Monarra Park Shetland Stud is located in the beautiful Hunter Valley, New South Wales, Australia.

We strive to breed ponies of varying heights and colours with equal versatility & substance We aim to breed ponies of varying heights and colours that excel in all disciplines whilst still maintaining the traditional look the Shetland Pony is famous for.

Sophie and Mathew have done an incredible job with Kingsley and I have enjoyed following their adventures and success.

After a hiatus from showing for the past 2 years (and subsequently updating this page), I can now say we are officially back!

The start of 2024 has seen us compete at a few of our local ag shows to get back into the swing of things.
Some of our results included:

It's been great getting back out there & catching up with everyone we have missed. I'll endeavour to update this page more regularly with what's happening at the stud too. 😀

We love receiving updates of ponies we have bred in their new homes.
I am especially fond of my bay babies I have bred as I worked hard to incorporate this colour into my stud without compromising on quality. It gives me a lot of joy to see them out and about giving others the happiness they give me.

The first 2 photos are Monarra Park Nightrider (Daniel Park Nightstalker x Woodview Kira), now owned by Fiona Wilson & Norni Wright of Glen Ardan Stud & campaigned by Bec & Jane Ge**er. This pony is so special to me and it was hard to part with him but I knew he was destined for great things in saddle and harness and he is in good hands. He recently competed at his first 2 shows under saddle where he took home some placings at EV Summer Show & at the North Central APSB show last weekend he was awarded Reserve Champion Led Gelding & won the ridden shetland gelding class.
I can’t wait to watch his journey under saddle & harness.

The last photo is Monarra Park Empire Rose (Lerwick Rebellion x Millwood Tawnie) owned by the Monaghan family. Whilst not shown, it still gives me equal happiness to watch her looking after her little friends and being a companion for her Welsh Pony friends too. I’m sure she is still into everything like she was when she was here lol.

Big congratulations to the team at EB Lodge for their success with Monarra Park Riverdale over the weekend at the Hunter Valley Hack & Breeds Show.

Dale was awarded Reserve Champion Led Shetland & Champion Ridden Shetland.

Nice to see the MP flag still being flown whilst we are currently on a break. He is looking fantastic guys 😄

Monarra Park Poison Ivy today. Recently weaned and such an easy going baby to deal with, like all the Legend babies are.

The past 2 weekends has seen us start our show season with 2 of our local shows. First up was Maitland Show where we took a team of 3 ponies. Monarra Park Balgair was 2nd in the Shetland stallion/colt ne 10.2hh and Reserve Champion stallion/colt.
Glen Ardan Zavannah was 1st in the Shetland mare/filly ne 10.2hh and Reserve Champion mare/filly. We also took the ever trusty Monarra Park Entourage who was awarded 1st in the gelding ne 10.2hh & Champion gelding. A big thank you to both Jenna Deeg & Mathew Gavan for your help on the day.

Friday saw us attend Cessnock Show which is one of our favourite shows to attend.
GA Zavannah won the Shetland filly 2-3yrs and reserve champion mare/filly ne 10.2hh. Monarra Park Entourage was 3rd in a big gelding 4yrs and over class. And last but definitely not least, Glen Ardan Snugglepot won the mare ne 10.2hh class, champion mare/filly ne 10.2hh and to our thrill, was then awarded supreme led Shetland. Snuggie then went on to win the ridden mare and champion ridden Shetland classes, ridden by Sophie Upson.
