At Diamond in the Ruff Rescue, we are a 100% volunteer-run, non-profit animal rescue dedicated to saving lives, one animal at a time. With no paid staff, our passionate team works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs in need. Since our founding, we have remained committed to creating a safe, loving, and enriching environment for both the animals we care for and the volunteers who dedicate their time to our mission. With the ongoing economic challenges and rising rates of pet surrenders, our rescue has seen a 75% increase in animals needing help over the past few years. Despite these hurdles, we continue to provide essential care, shelter, and second chances to animals from all walks of life. Our core mission revolves around the belief that every animal deserves a loving home. We take in dogs from overcrowded pounds, neglectful situations, and homes that can no longer care for them, offering hope to those who need it most. From fostering and rehabilitating dogs to organizing adoptions, Diamond in the Ruff Rescue works diligently to match each dog with their forever family. By supporting our rescue through donations, sponsorships, or adoptions, you help us provide medical care, food, shelter, and transportation for animals in need. Together, we can give these animals the second chance they deserve. We rely on the kindness of donors, community partnerships, and our network of volunteers to sustain our life-saving efforts. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a huge impact in the lives of our rescued dogs.

🚨🐾 CLAUDIUS UPDATE – EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING NEWS 💔
Firstly, I want to sincerely thank every single person who stepped forward with transport pledges, offers of assistance and shares to help Claudius. ❤️
Unfortunately, I have some very disappointing news.
Diamond in the Ruff Rescue will no longer be taking Claudius into care.
We stepped forward in good faith to save this beautiful boy. I spent considerable time organising his rescue, secured transport from Albury to Thornton and, most importantly, had a loving adoptive home waiting for him. ❤️
Everything was coming together.
Then I received a message from Albury Animal Care Centre advising that another rescue would be collecting Claudius and Tex on Wednesday because it was considered logistically easier.
Just like that. No prior discussion, no consultation and no consideration for the arrangements already made.
To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement.
Rescue is hard enough without this sort of treatment. We are volunteers who give our time, energy, resources and often our own money to save dogs that desperately need help.
Our time is valuable. Our commitments matter. And our willingness to help should never be taken for granted.
What I find particularly upsetting is that Claudius already had a home waiting for him. Surely that deserved some consideration before deciding to send him elsewhere?
I sincerely hope Claudius and Tex have wonderful futures. Neither dog deserves to be caught up in disagreements between people trying to help them.
But I will not pretend that the way this has been handled is acceptable.
Rescue should be about cooperation, communication and, above all, doing what's best for the dogs. Not simply what's most convenient.
❤️ TO EVERYONE WHO PLEDGED TOWARDS CLAUDIUS'S TRANSPORT:
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Your generosity has not gone unnoticed.
Any transport pledge payments already received will be refunded in full. If you pledged but haven't paid, no payment is required.
I'm genuinely sorry that things have turned out this way, especially to those who offered their time, transport and financial support.
We may not be bringing Claudius into our rescue, but I sincerely hope he gets the loving, permanent home he deserves.

🏉💙❤️ TEAM DUKE — ONE TOUGH LITTLE KNIGHT WITH A BIG STORY TO TELL! ❤️💙🏉

Well, well, well… would you look at this handsome little champion! 🤣😍

Our gorgeous Duke is proudly sporting his Newcastle Knights jersey, and judging by that face, he's ready to take on the world!

But behind those beautiful brown eyes is a story of courage, determination and a few battles that nobody saw coming. 👀

Duke has already endured more than any dog should. Major orthopaedic surgery, pain, setbacks and a long road to recovery.

But giving up?

NOT IN DUKE'S VOCABULARY! 💪🐾

And tomorrow, our little champion heads off for another rehabilitation appointment!

There's still muscle to rebuild, strength to regain and plenty of work ahead before Duke can truly enjoy the life he deserves.

Thankfully, he has one very special person in his corner. ❤️

His wonderful foster mum, Chrystie.

The person who has been there day in, day out, through the veterinary appointments, rehabilitation, worries, challenges and little victories.

And believe me, this journey hasn't exactly been a walk in the park!

BUT HERE'S WHERE DUKE'S STORY TAKES AN INTERESTING TURN… 👀

While Duke has been fighting his own physical battles, another battle has been unfolding behind the scenes.

Remember the incredible generosity of everyone who donated to help save Duke?

Almost $19,000 raised by wonderful people who wanted nothing more than to see this beautiful boy recover.

An extraordinary effort! ❤️

However, we have experienced difficulties obtaining timely funding for Duke's ongoing rehabilitation, and important questions about the funds raised remain unanswered.

How much has been spent? How much remains? And how will Duke's ongoing treatment be funded?

Surely those are reasonable questions when so many people donated specifically to help this little fellow?

We are not making accusations of wrongdoing. We simply believe that transparency matters, particularly when the public has so generously contributed towards an animal's welfare.

And let's make one thing perfectly clear…

This isn't about recognition, organisations or who gets the credit.

IT'S ABOUT DUKE! ❤️🐾

The little fighter who has already endured so much and deserves every opportunity to make the best recovery possible.

And as for everything happening behind the scenes?

The questions have been asked, and we look forward to the answers. 😉

But enough about the paperwork!

Tomorrow is another important day in Duke's recovery, and we're hoping for some positive progress.

He might not be running onto the footy field anytime soon 🤣, but he's certainly showing the heart of a champion!

PERFECT! Chase wants in. And he’ll probably kick your ass doing it. 😂

This ridiculously handsome 2 year old goofball has ears for days, a million dollar smile and is still learning about personal space boundaries ❤️

🚗 Loves car rides, walks, puzzle toys, food and doggy mates. But people? OBSESSED.

🏡 His dream home:
🐾 An older, confident doggy mate (preferably male, although Chase is an equal-opportunity humper 😂)
🐾 EXTRA SECURE fencing - NOT NEGOTIABLE! If it’s not AT LEAST 6 foot do not apply please
🐾 An experienced, patient human who understands he missed out on being a puppy and teenager.
🐾 Kids 5+ (his tail is a lethal weapon!)
🐾 Part-time or shift workers could suit!

Chase has come SO far and has beautiful manners, but initially he’ll be your shadow. Actually, scratch that. Your conjoined twin. He might disappear for 3 minutes to play with his doggy mate, but he’ll be right back up your butt before you’ve finished reading this post. 😂

Our gorgeous little Frosty is looking for a special foster home! 🐾❤️

Don't let those innocent eyes fool you! 🤣 This little character is bursting with puppy energy, mischief and personality!

Frosty absolutely LOVES other dogs, but like any youngster, he's still learning his manners, boundaries and that little teeth aren't always welcome! 🐾

Being completely deaf, Frosty needs someone willing to communicate through hand signals, patience and positive reinforcement.

🏡 WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

🐾 A loving, patient foster carer.

🐾 Ideally, another friendly, playful dog who enjoys puppy company.
