Welcome to GBS Equestrian
GBS Equestrian draws on the knowledge & experience of Ron Smith & Fairlie Gidley-Baird. Two passionate horse people, with a vast depth of experience within the equine industry.
Ron’s personal passion lays within the thoroughbred industry. Having started youngsters that have gone on to winning and placing in group company and having one of his own fillies start in the illustrious Gimcrack Stakes.
Fairlie has started and trained horses through to FEI Dressage, 2 Star Eventing and up to 1.40m Showjumping. Fairlie was a part of the junior national eventing squad whilst training under Heath Ryan as a junior eventer and contributed to the early years for Elusive Warlock (Sydney Olympics) and Elusive Gold (sold OS).
Ron and Fairlie believe the quickest way to a youngster being successful and have longevity no matter the discipline is too start them correctly and confidently. This means ensuring they understand and are confident at every stage throughout the starting process. GBS Equestrian are dedicated to starting horses correctly and confidently and providing a quality service to the equine community. GBS Equestrian are proud to open their gates to the wider equine community who would like their horses started correctly, educated with empathy or sold with integrity.
