Luckily the Afterhours phone stayed quiet while I snuck off to Perth for some continuing education. The AVA autumn conference was one I didn’t want to miss with Dr Alex Gillam speaking about all aspects of colic.

Dr Alex is a soft tissue surgeon currently working at the University of Liverpool Equine Hospital and she is in the process of completing her PhD in colic due to strangulating lipoma.

It was also a great opportunity to build on my knowledge and catch up with my fellow equine colleagues from around the state.

Thanks to everyone involved in making these events happen. It’s always great to keep up with the latest treatment and technologies.

Now that lunches are packed and the kids are back at school, it’s a good time to reflect on what a whirlwind the last couple of months have been. Between school holidays, Christmas, New Year, birthday parties, camping trips and more, it certainly flew by.

It was a busy time juggling work, kids, snacks (and more snacks 😅), and trying to keep all the balls in the air.

A huge thank you to my amazing, loyal clients for your patience and understanding during this time — your support truly means the world 💛

Creative thinking pays off! 🐴✨
This horse suffered a severe stone bruise that eventually burst — no pus, but a lot of blood, and the horse was extremely lame.

We designed a specialised shoe to protect the area, keep it clean and dry, and promote proper healing. This kept the horse comfortable and pain free throughout recovery. It also mean the owner did not have to keep changing a bandage every few days.

The result? The wound has granulated beautifully, and the horse is now back in normal shoes and ready to return to work!

Look at the incredible healing progression 👇

For one client we have got 3 positive pregnancies from the first 3 inseminations. The semen has come from Victoria and NSW 👏 🥳

Mt Barker run a great day with classes to suit every discipline and ability. Just a small way in which I can give back to the community and encourage the young riders coming through 👏

Introducing the little star of the season 🌟

This adorable c**t is the first foal of our artificial insemination programme carried out last season. He’s sired by a NSW stallion using chilled semen.
He needed a little TLC post foaling as he was slow finding the teat and took a bit to get his first drink. He is now bucking around the paddock with no trouble at all 😍
