Operation Wanted is an RSPCA initiative incentivising the desexing of pets by offering a 20% discount at participating vet clinics! Operation Wanted runs over the months of June to August each year so read on below to find out how to receive your discount ! To receive 20% off your pet's desexing, first register at https://www.desexmypet.com.au/register and then provide the registration code to our staff when you are booking the appointment.

There are lots and lots of benefits to desexing our pets but here are just a few:

◉ Reduces desire to roam

◉ No risk of unwanted litters and less puppies and kittens in shelters

◉ Cheaper council registration fees

◉ Reduces risk of some cancers and diseases later in life

◉ Reduces aggressive and dominant behaviours in dogs

◉ Reduces behaviours such as urine spraying in cats

If you are unsure or have any questions about desexing your pets, feel free to call Townsville Vet Clinic on 4779 0233 and we would be more than happy to help you out! Remember, Operation Wanted will run from June 1st to August 31st, so come on in before it is too late!!

Don't forget that the Heartworm Amnesty is still running! And what does that mean... 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐌 𝐓𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐒
During this Amnesty period (March and April 2026), heartworm tests will be free for any dog (older than 6 months) that is currently on irregular monthly treatments, lapsed yearly treatments by longer than 3 months or no treatment at all. To qualify for the free test a dog must receive a yearly heartworm injection during the same consult. This will protect your dog for the next year and will kill any larvae that have been recently acquired in the previous 3 months. This is also the first step in treatment of a heartworm infected dog in the unfortunate event that a test returns positive.
If you have any doubts as to whether your dog is heartworm free, now is the time to contact us and protect your dog from the terrible effects of heartworm!

Yesterday pharmacists Sammy & Jill saddled up for a special excursion! 🐴💉

The girls spent the afternoon visiting Townsville Veterinary Clinic. We think vets and vet nurses are unsung heroes so it was pleasure to make sure the team are vaccinated and ready for flu season. They are now set to continue looking after the best members of the community, our pets!!

Of course there were horse pats, a behind-the-scenes tour, and a few chances to brush up on our stable skills!

A big thank you to Dr Louisa and Dr Ben for having us — the girls had a neigh-tastic time visiting your team and learning more about the amazing work you do every day.

If your workplace would like to book a flu clinic with our team, we’d love to come to you, no horsing around!😉

We repeat the warning each year but we reach new pet owners every year as well. While we are hoping to be celebrating the Easter period, we do need to take care that some our favourite treats don't turn into an emergency for our pets.

Should your pet sneak a treat that doesn't belong to them, please call us to help prevent any life-threatening complications.
