DACO will act as the official state register for BACKYARD breeders.
If you purchase a pup or kitten from a breeder who states they are a registered breeder and they quote their DACO number they are a backyard breeder. They are NOT a registered breeder!
They are not a registered breeder if they are selling labradoodles, oodles, spoodles, groodles, bordoodles or any of your designer dogs! No matter the stupid names people use they are cross bred dogs sold at exorbitant prices!
Registered breeders health test, vet check, microchip, worm, flea, vaccinate, do hip and elbow scores, do blood tests, use good blood linage and all their animals come with registered or limited papers but some also can come without papers. They are extremely meticulous about their pets and make sure they have all their needs met on a daily basis.
Registered reputable breeders should allow you to meet the animal’s mum and dad before you commit to buying an animal from them. They will stay in contact with you even after you have purchased your new family member. They will always take their animals back.
They will provide a complete veterinary history of the animal.
*ANKC is the only internationally recognised registry in Australia that can issue pedigree papers for purebred dogs.
