Apologies to all. I experienced a severe seizure at approximately 6am this morning and, as a result, will be unable to drive today. I appreciate Cody's assistance in notifying my commitments for today and am grateful for understanding regarding my medical conditions.

Will be unavailable today. I am currently experiencing neurological issues due to my condition, which are causing severe nausea and dizziness. Apologies if it takes me longer than normal to respond to inquiries.

After many side quests… It's all back together again! Just a few loose ends to tie up and a friend to give it the once-over when they get back from soaking up the sun. Should be just in time for spring and the bees to get buzzing 🐝

Our shopfront will be closed for the next two weeks due to air conditioning maintenance. The completion date and return to regular hours are currently uncertain as the whole shopfront needs to be boxed up and relocated to prevent any contamination of products.
Online orders and delivery still available.

Regrettably, reinstating the Ute's roadworthiness has become somewhat complicated. I am currently researching specialist welding services to repair the cracked exhaust manifold, having encountered difficulties sourcing a replacement in South Australia. Yesterday, City Dismantlers offered a potential solution, but unfortunately, the part was designed for the WE model, not the WL turbo. Another option was found in Mt Gambier, but it was sold to a yard on a first-come, first-served basis. Consequently, I am reassessing my options. Nevertheless, I remain grateful for the loan of a vehicle from friends, enabling me to tend to our beehives. Unfortunately, I am still unable to participate in markets or conduct workshops, as the temporary vehicle is insufficient for transporting the necessary equipment.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Have checked in on all of our hives for mid winter checks when weather was agreeable. I will admit some are struggling and being fed both coloured syrup for traceability and pollen supplements but the Eucalyptus Odorata is in flower and producing in the hills, so there’s the silver lining to the rain we’ve had finally.

Went to SAAA conference in Murray Bridge Friday, was very informative and gave me questions to research and look into further. With presentations by Randy Oliver, Russel Smith - Beequip NZ, Jon Lockwood - Goldfields Honey, Grant Piggot - Fruit Producers SA, just to name a few. To learn about new technology being used to help monitor and manage hives with Ray Kwon - BeeSTAR, will be looking into making the investment in my hives in the future (when the ute is finished). Much thanks for the opportunity to attend, learn and question.

Ute sidequest has been completed and can now get back to the engine after doing all the steering and suspension on the front end.

Sample of Varroa destructor from Saturday’s Varroa management workshop.

C02 varroa check on a hive negative, swapped to beetle blaster base with ant legs Sunday. Alcohol wash is still the best method of testing, although have not had personal experience with varroa.

So far on ute
- shockers front and rear (Cody did rear) ($394.94)
- new brakes front and back, brake flush and fluid renew* ($141.98)
- new cylinder head complete kit with all gaskets and timing done** ($1164.95)
- water pump checked, new water pump gasket and thermostat ($43.95)
- new ball joints, tie rod ends and idler arm* ($296.66)
- dropped and cleaned oil pan, oil intake pipe and oil rail, and put back on.
- Cody helped taking off, re-gasket gooing with enough stuff and putting the oil pan back on today as I had a gut feeling I hadn’t put enough goo on. Wanted to check and was correct I hadn’t
- slowly degreasing underbody to check for other leaks and seeps
- oil filter, oil* and coolant flush* (tbd when completed)
- fin realignment on intercooler (Cody)
- matching sized wheel nuts all round, so not playing flip the cross bar spanner
- complete radiator hose kit ($183)
- cv joints to be eyeballed
- driveshaft to be eyeballed

* to be done
** to be completed

Still under what I was quoted for auto shop to do just the head cylinder replacement ($4,500)

Stoked to almost have the bee arch beeasty back running, be completely roadworthy after replacing almost everything lol (worth it in the long run to do it all while off the road once, than on and off the road sporadically) and safe for all.

Slowly but surely…
New shocks front and back. Oil pan off but brought home to clean gasket goo off. Block cleaned.
Massive pain in the ass to reverse car in driveway when got home, as someone likes to park across the road to make life awkward, when they have two carports and a driveway plus three other areas of street parking and still be outside their house…
