We, as HandicappedPets Australia, sent BonBon a wheelchair recently but he was having trouble slipping out of the chest harness
So we did some customisation of the Vest from the small wheelchair so it will be compatible with the mini version and hey presto ….. happy bunny

🐰 Lenny’s New Wheels! 🦽✨

Sharing this heart warming moment from HandicappedPets Australia! 💙

Meet Lenny, a 10-year-old Angora rabbit who just got his custom wheelchair to help with mobility. After Melbourne Animal Physio saw our recent video of Bonbon the mini lop using their wheels, they reached out about getting Lenny some extra support—and now he’s rolling in style! 🐾

Mobility solutions can make such a huge difference in an animal’s quality of life, and we’re so proud to be part of Lenny’s journey. Check out the original post below to see him in action! 👇

Meet Lenny, the most adorable 10-year-old Angora rabbit! 😍 Lenny is a patient at Melbourne Animal Physio, and after seeing my video of Bonbon the mini lop rocking their wheelchair last week, they reached out about getting Lenny some wheels too!

This week, Lenny got his custom wheelchair to help him stay mobile—and he’s absolutely loving his new freedom! 💕 Watching him explore and move around more easily is the sweetest thing ever.

Huge shoutout to Melbourne Animal Physio for their dedication to helping animals like Lenny live their best lives! 🐾💙

A worthy cause to contribute towards

To Our Loyal Supporters,

It’s Jennifer here, founder of Safe Pets Safe Families. We’ve just come out of our board meeting and decided that we have no choice but to put it all on the line tonight. Our organisation desperately needs funds to stay afloat. It’s the honest truth. I need to say it how it is. We are currently turning people away and upsettingly, we can’t continue our services into the New Year if we don't raise vital funds tonight.

I’m hoping at least 12 of you will kickstart our urgent fundraiser to save our organisation and get us back to doing what we do best, by clicking here now: https://safe-pets-safe-families.mygiveeasy.com/our-wish/donate

I started this organisation to prevent others experiencing what I did – the loss of my dogs, my fur children, when I fled domestic violence. I soon realised that pets mean the world to everyone, and that all vulnerable people and pets need and deserve support.

Having watched the charity grow over the years, I am as sure as ever that our community needs our support. In a big way, the health and wellbeing of people and pets depends on us.

We’ve done some great things. Take for example Jimmy and Seb.

Jimmy and Seb are homeless and living rough. When Seb the dog became unwell, Jimmy was exceptionally stressed with the financial burden of needing to take Seb to the vet multiple times. That stress magnified when he was told that Seb needed surgery to remove a tumor from his paw.

Jimmy was researching loans to pay for the surgery when he stumbled across Safe Pets Safe Families and learned we could help people in his position. He emailed us immediately and within a few hours had received a call from our case worker, who got Seb into one of our partner vets the same day. Surgery was scheduled and once complete, a no interest payment plan was put in place.

“I was so thankful, not having to have the money up front. Not only did Safe Pets save Seb’s life but mine as well. I was in such a low place that losing my mate would have killed me. We’ve always kept each other strong through our rough life. Words can’t describe how grateful I am, and I know if Seb could speak, he’d say thank you too!!!”.

Sadly, we are currently declining clients as we don’t have the funds to keep up with demand. It pains me so much. It’s not what I want to do and unless we can raise these funds, we face the prospect of closing our doors for good. We need to do something and fast, as there are so many people and their pets that desperately need help.

I’m putting it all on the line tonight.

We need to raise at least $50,000 to allow us to continue to help people and their pets and continue doing what we do best.

Just $5 from each and every one of you would get us to our goal. It’s the cost of your next cup of coffee but one that will help us more than you ever know.

If you can please write the word DONE after you have donated below and please please share this post far and wide. We need all the help we can get tonight.

This is our SOS. Our urgent time of need. I can’t put it any other way.

Please donate now: https://safe-pets-safe-families.mygiveeasy.com/our-wish/donate

The inspiration behind it all

A Veterinary Nurse since 1992, with 25 of those years with the same awesome boss, I started Pets Need A Life Too! when I made the conscious decision to invite a Rottweiler into my life at a time the breed was attracting negative reputation from media and the general public as whole. I wanted to ensure my boy, Cole, would be a nuisance to no one so I self-educated on behaviour, animal body language and particularly behavioural enrichment.

Recognising a need, I started to write about what I did for Cole in the clinic newsletter. Clients loved the articles, as did my professional peers. One of those peers challenged me after I laughingly said I should write a book on the topic of behaviour enrichment as I was getting so many referrals.

Pets Need A Life Too was born from the book with the same title. I love hearing from owners who let me know how well their pets are doing with the enrichment they are providing them, and the genuine appreciation of their pets willingness to choose enrichment.
