Summary: Future of my business, about my views, who I allow to adopt my mice
Great appreciation if you took the time to read, especially if you are considering adopting from me for the first time!
Hi all!
I am now starting to knuckle down when it comes to who I sell my mice to. Mice are one of the most neglected pet species out there simply for the fact that people get them without doing any research very similarly to fish, small reptiles and other small rodents, beta fish sadly have the worst cases I have EVER seen.
Soon I will begin making educational posts on mouse care when it comes to cages, toys, diet, overall everything! I will use these posts to also educate new mouse owners who are wanting to adopt from me!
I am very passionate about my mice and even if it only helps the pet world a smidge, I want my business to be known for its ethics, temperaments and education, especially since I am going to be expanding greatly with ethical products, toys, food, cages etc when I move out and have an official mousery.
I will be expecting those who wish to adopt from me to have all the appropriate gear or get the appropriate gear after speaking with me. If you are wanting to adopt from me, never be nervous to contact me to ask questions! I strive to educate on mouse keeping as it is something very dear to me and I’d love for it to develop into a freelance full time career one day if ever possible.
I will most definitely refuse to sell to those who don’t have the suitable equipment required. I get contacted on a near daily basis about mouse care and adoption enquiries. I am a very patient person but I do hope everyone is understanding of how tiring it is dealing with people who refuse to learn or have an attitude to “ just use what they have”.
Animals aren’t able to express what they need and want, they are also incapable of consent. Therefore it is my job as a pet breeder to speak for them and consent to where they are homed and I take this very seriously! Not all breeders care about this but I personally believe it is essential otherwise you simply shouldn’t have the power to breed.
I hope you all understand and hopefully now have a better view of myself and my opinions as a mouse breeder. I also hope that this post will aid in your choice of adopting from me or elsewhere as you now know where my personal priorities stand and my point of view on things!
Do know that as of the date of this post, I have only been learning about mouse keeping for 4 years and breeding for 2, just like everyone else I am still learning new things every day!
My views on breeding mice are not based on personal opinions but on hours and hours of education and speaking to many, many other ethical breeders from multiple different countries around the globe with years of first hand experience.
