Big night for one of our newest police dogs! PD Gus was involved in two arrests overnight…
An intruder was arrested after allegedly breaking into a Tonsley business overnight.
About 12.30am Wednesday 30 July, fire crews responded to a fire alarm at a commercial premises on MAB Circuit, Tonsley.
They found no sign of a fire, instead there was an intruder inside the café armed with a knife.
Fire fighters retreated and patrols quickly attended, cordoning off the area.
Police Dog Gus and his handler entered the café and took the suspect safely into custody.
The 31-year-old Glynde man was charged with serious criminal trespass and carrying an offensive weapon.
Thankfully no one was injured during this incident.
Then, just after 2.30am, police responded to alarms at a sports clubhouse under construction on Hazel Grove, Ridgehaven.
An intruder had been spotted on CCTV and patrols on the ground could hear someone coughing and moving around inside.
Again, officers cordoned off the premises and called in Police Dog Gus to help search.
The man was quickly located by PD Gus and arrested.
The 28-year-old Tea Tree Gully man was charged with being unlawfully on premises and unlawful possession.
