Hier ein Beitrag über seltene Terrerrassen - in UK gefördert als "Vulnerable Native Breeds".

Vulnerable Native Breeds in the UK:
Dear Terrier lovers, the end of the year 2015 is coming closer and we are waiting for the figures of this year. Let us look back a couple of years and observe the development of our rare terrier breeds:
The rarest native terrier breed in the UK still is the Skye, even though more pups have been registered in 2014 than during each of the last 5 years. The socond rarest terrier breed is the Irish Glen of Imaal - although there is a slight increase in numbers too. English Toy Terrier and Sealyham terrier follow with registrations just under a 100 in 2014. There is a growing interest in the Sealyham noticable also in Europe and I am happy to report there have been several interesting litters born in Middle Europe, Scandinavia and Russia.
Even though this group is about terriers I would like to point out the 2 rarest native breeds in the UK - the Otterhound still placing nr 1 on this list with 22 registrations in 2014 followed by the Smooth Collie with only 33. As I have mentioned before the Skye terrier is number 3 of all vulnerable native breeds and sadly number 1 of the terriers. For more information check out the website of the Kennel Club (link below).
Let me mention that an Irish Glen of Imaal and a Skye Terrier - both bred in Austria - recently took BIS 1 & 2 in a Terrier Specialty in Germany. Furthermore a Sealyham imported to Austria won BIS Baby at the same show. Also a litter of Lakeland terriers born in 2014 has done well starting their campaigns. So our small country with its small but dedicated group of terrier fanciers faces a rosy future. We hope to get more support from the official club than in the past... (Text: Otto Krcal)

The Kennel Club is concerned with protecting those breeds of dog which are of British origin and are considered to be vulnerable i.e. those whose numbers are declining
