Divali 2024 approaches (public holiday on October 31st). It is a popular day full of festivities.
A fusion of several spiritual activities, it primarily focuses on removing darkness from our lives.
One of the primary tenets of Hinduism is that we are connected to other beings & the universe.
As humans, it is our responsibility to care for & protect others around us, especially those who can’t do so for themselves.
While we all enjoy the lights & festivities, the message of love for all should not be lost.
As fun as fireworks & bursting bamboo may be, blasts create tremendous distress to all animals, babies, the elderly & those with serious medical conditions.
It is well known that many animals have a sense of hearing far superior to humans.
Booming sounds trigger a fight or flight response, resulting in their running away, getting lost or injured. They also suffer from severe panic: trembling, seizures & death.
How many of us have seen bodies of dogs & cats strewn about on our roadways after holidays like this?
How many have had pets suffer extreme panic or go missing after trying to run away from these loud sounds?
The Animals Alive team is very anxious about the upcoming days.
Sadly, this time of year is never enjoyable for us.
Loud sounds during Divali celebrations cause tremendous distress to the hundreds of dogs & cats under our care.
Because we can’t control the actions of humans, we are forced to try to help prepare our animals for the inevitable.
This year we are trying to obtain calming treats to help them cope.
We are also trying to reinforce our kennels so that petrified dogs can’t squeeze themselves through when panicked & injure themselves.
Will you support our message this year by:
1. spreading the message of compassion for our pets & wildlife
2. Reminding others of laws regarding the use of fireworks within residential areas- it is illegal
3. Consider noiseless fireworks
4. Ensure your pets & homes are secured for this day
5. Donate to help us prepare our rescue animals
Please have compassion for animals & wildlife & help prevent unnecessary suffering for this Divali.
Take care of others & nature takes care of you
