Scientific studies show microgreens have more than 20 times the nutrients of mature plants. Cooking microgreens for 15 minutes at 140-180°F will yield at least 75% of their nutrients. Vegetables lose less than 50% of their nutrients when cooked for more than 30 minutes or less.

Also, consider which microgreen you’ll be cooking as some are best eaten raw like broccoli, kale, radish while others are very tasty when stir-fried such as sunflower shoots and pea shoots. 😋😉

The most recommended way to incorporate it in your smoothies is to first extract its juice using a dedicated juicer. Masticating wheatgrass juicers are the number one choice, and they would ensure that the maximum amount of nutrients is preserved.

Kickstart your day by making yourself wheatgrass shots by following these steps:

1. Cut your wheatgrass about an inch from the root just before you're ready to juice it.

2. Rinse the wheatgrass (especially if it's not homegrown) and discard any leaves that have turned completely yellow.

3. Pass small bunches of wheatgrass through the juicer. It's possible that the juicer may get jammed once in a while, so remove the pulp manually and then continue. Eventually, you'll be left with all the juice and the small amount of leftover pulp.

Wheatgrass juice has a strong flavor that many find unappealing at best, completely unpalatable at worst. To make it more palatable it can be diluted with vegetable juice, or fruit juice like pineapple juice.

Who doesn’t love pizza?! It may not be the healthiest, but why not top it up with some microgreens!

Microgreens are eaten raw, they can be sprinkled on pizza, thrown into salads or added to your spaghetti bolognese as you serve it.

Enjoy your pizza with some microgreens on it, pretty sure sunflower shoots and some kale microgreens would be tasty on it! 😋
