Friday night, anaesthesia lectures, and a room full of veterinary professionals? Sounds like a great time to us!

One of the things we feel incredibly grateful for in our region is the growing access to world-class continuing education opportunities, thanks to the amazing companies and suppliers who are passionate about advancing veterinary medicine.

Last night was another fantastic example, with an excellent CPD event hosted by Eurovets focusing on anaesthesia and ventilation.

Instead of winding down for the weekend, Dr. Adrienn, Dr. Caroline, Senior Nurse Jonathan, and Senior Nurse Leo jumped at the chance to attend and expand their knowledge even further. 🙌

We can’t wait to hear the key takeaways and new insights they bring back to the team! 💙

Part 2 of our Solensia & Librela Educational series with Nova Pharma: How can I know if my pet has pain ?

One of the greatest challenges in veterinary medicine is that many pets instinctively hide discomfort. By the time many owners notice a problem, their pet may have been living with pain for months—or even years.

In Part 2 of our educational series with Nova Pharma, Dr. Caroline and Dr. Ash discuss how pet owners can recognize the subtle early signs of arthritis and chronic pain, and why those signs often look very different in cats compared to dogs.

🐶 Dogs may become reluctant to jump into the car, slow down on walks, or struggle getting up after rest.

🐱 Cats, however, are masters of disguise. Changes can be much more subtle—a favourite perch left unused, less interest in play, altered grooming habits, or simply becoming quieter and less interactive.

These changes are often mistaken for “just getting older,” when in reality they may be signs of discomfort that can be addressed.

The earlier we recognise pain, the earlier we can help. Because growing older shouldn’t mean living with pain.

Watch the full conversation to learn what signs to look for and how understanding your pet’s behaviour can make a profound difference to their quality of life. ❤️

New Educational Series: Managing Arthritis in Pets with Dr. Caroline & Dr. Ash

We’re excited to share the first video in a special 5-part educational series, created with our friends at Nova Pharma, featuring our very own Dr. Caroline and one of our favourite veterinary educators, Dr. Ash.

In this series, they’ll be discussing two innovative treatments that have transformed the way we help pets living with osteoarthritis:

🐾 Solensia® – a monthly injection designed to help reduce arthritis pain in cats, allowing them to move more comfortably and enjoy their daily activities.

🐾 Librela® – a monthly injection that helps manage osteoarthritis pain in dogs, supporting improved mobility and quality of life.

Arthritis is one of the most common conditions we see in our senior patients, but many pets suffer quietly. Signs can be subtle, including:

✔️ Reluctance to jump or climb stairs
✔️ Sleeping more than usual
✔️ Stiffness after resting
✔️ Reduced interest in walks or play
✔️ Changes in grooming habits (especially in cats)

As we head into the hotter summer months, many pets become less active, making this an excellent time to assess whether stiffness or mobility changes could be affecting their quality of life.

If you’ve noticed any of these signs, or if you’re curious whether Solensia® or Librela® could help your pet, we’d be happy to discuss a trial and create a tailored mobility plan.

Bring Your Dog to Work Day?

The team was delighted to have a very special visitor join us for the day this week…. Dr. Helen’s beautiful dog, Spug. As a regular visitor to the clinic, (she even helps students learn our Fear Free techniques!) Spug is always a welcome addition, but this time she even joined us for clinical rounds (and took her role very seriously!).

While we did our best to stay focused, we can’t promise there weren’t a few extra smiles, cuddles, and that rounds took a little longer than usual ☺️

Dogs like Spug remind us of one of the best parts of veterinary medicine: the joy animals bring not only to their families but also to the people who care for them every day.

As Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month Comes to a Close… 💙

While May may be dedicated to celebrating veterinary nurses, the truth is that we are grateful for ours every single day.

Behind every carefully placed catheter, every patient monitored through the night, and every worried pet parent comforted during a difficult moment, there is a veterinary nurse making a difference.

Our nurses are the heart of our hospital. They are compassionate advocates for every patient, dedicated teammates, and the steady hands that help pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for when they need it most.

Their work often happens quietly behind the scenes, but its impact is felt every day - in every recovery, and every family reunited with a beloved pet.

To our incredible nursing team: thank you for your kindness, your expertise, your patience, and your unwavering commitment to the animals entrusted to our care. We see the extra mile you go, the love you pour into your work, and the difference you make every day.

We are so proud to have you all!

Please join us in celebrating and thanking our wonderful veterinary nurses—not just this month, but every day of the year.

Rosie update !
Three weeks ago, little Rosie came to us in constant pain.

At just 2 kg fully grown, this tiny girl had already endured so much — crying out in pain from a rare condition called atlantoaxial instability, where the first two vertebrae in the neck are unstable and can place dangerous pressure on the spinal cord.

Today, we are beyond happy to share a very different update. 💛

Rosie is now three weeks post-op, her stitches are out, and she is pain-free, active, vocal, and enjoying life in a way she never could before.

This marks only the second case of atlantoaxial instability we have treated at the clinic — and the second successful surgery performed by Dr. Sergio using an innovative dorsal suture stabilization technique.

For a cat as tiny and unique as Rosie, every detail mattered. Seeing her now, comfortable and full of personality, reminds us exactly why we do what we do.

Rosie will soon be heading to Switzerland to spend the summer with her wonderful family, whose love, trust, and dedication throughout this journey have been nothing short of incredible. She is truly a very lucky little cat.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of your story, Rosie. We could not be happier for you. 🐾

We LOVE learning!🙌🏻🩺

We’re incredibly proud that Dr. Caroline was selected as one of only a small number of veterinarians invited to attend an exclusive dermatology CPD event in Dubai today. A fantastic opportunity to learn from a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Dermatology and deepen her expertise in diagnosing and managing skin disease in pets.

With the warmer months approaching, we often see an increase in allergies, itching, ear infections, hot spots, and other skin flare-ups — making this knowledge especially valuable for helping our patients stay comfortable through the summer season. ☀️🐾

A huge thank you to St. Vincent Group (SVG) for the invitation and for supporting continued veterinary education. We love being part of a profession that is always evolving, growing, and striving for better patient care. 💙

🎉 18 Years of German Veterinary Clinic 🎉

This weekend, we celebrated a milestone that feels both surreal and deeply meaningful… our 18th birthday.Officially “all grown up” 😻

Over the past 18 years, so much has changed. We’ve grown, evolved, expanded our knowledge, and continued pushing the boundaries of what veterinary care can and should look like.

Today, we are proud to be:
✨ The first and only Fear Free certified clinic in the Middle East
✨ The first Gold Standard Cat Friendly Clinic in the Middle East
✨ The first and only Zero Pain Philosophy clinic in the Middle East

But while many things have evolved, the heart behind German Veterinary Clinic has never changed.

18 years ago, Dr. Katrin had a vision for a clinic built on compassion, excellence, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to doing what is best for animals — every single time.

That vision still guides us today.

Behind every consultation, surgery, late night, difficult case, comforting cuddle, gentle touch, and happy recovery is a team that genuinely gives their all for the animals entrusted to them. Because we truly believe animals deserve the very best from us. Always.

To every client who has trusted us, supported us, and grown with us over the years — thank you for being part of this journey.

And to our incredible team, past and present, thank you for carrying these values forward every day.

Here’s to 18 years of care, compassion, innovation, and advocating for animals — and to many more to come. 💙💙💙
