I Had the privilege of participating as a panelist at the Travel, Hospitality & Tourism Education Summit 2026 held at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre.

Engaging discussions focused on how education can drive tourism transformation, with strong emphasis on indigenous knowledge, vocational training, and sustainable local workforce development.

Grateful to contribute to the conversation on wildlife management and conservation economics alongside captains of industry who included the CEO of Mwamfushi Lodge and the Country Director for African Parks.

One of the take home message was that; increased community beneficiation must remain central—because when communities see tangible value from wildlife conservation, they naturally become its strongest champions.

The future of tourism in Africa is clearly rooted in collaboration, innovation, and skills development.

RIP CRAIG, AMBOSELI’S LARGEST TUSKER

We have sad news to start the year. Craig, Amboseli’s largest tusker, has died of suspected natural causes at 54 years old.

one of the most photographed elephants in all of Africa. He lived peacefully alongside the communities that he shared space with. Elephants with tusks as big as his have becoming increasingly rare, targeted by poachers and trophy hunters, and Craig was one of the largest of those remaining.

Craig was a huge presence in Amboseli and will be sorely missed. But he lived a long life and died a natural death, and no creature – human or elephant – could ask for much more.

The Great Elephant Trek Continues!

In this Christmas Spirit, let's talk about our Male Elephant named Z17, who rejoined the historic Great Elephant Trek.

Starting in West Zambezi GMA, Z17 boldly crossed the mighty Zambezi River and trekked east into Mulobezi GMA within Kafue National Park, covering an impressive 270.4 km in just 6 days!

Z17 is no stranger to epic journeys. Two years ago, he travelled 942 km into Angola and back to Sioma in just 22 days, a true symbol of endurance and the need for connected landscapes.

Why do elephants move such long distances?
✅ To find food and water during seasonal changes
✅ To maintain genetic diversity and follow ancient migration routes

These movements remind us why transboundary conservation and wildlife corridors are critical for elephant survival. When nature has space, elephants thrive, and that’s what Together Possible means.
