Myth busters

Can a dog eat beans?

Beans can be part of a dogs healthy diet, they are rich in fibre and some protein too, dogs can have beans as a treat.

There are foods that are toxic like the
*onion family [ onion , garlic and chives ] they can cause gastrointestinal irritation and red blood cell damage which can cause anaemia .
*Grapes and raisins can cause kidney failure in dogs
*Dark chocolate and unsweetened baking chocolate. Chocolate can cause a dog to vomit and have diarrhea.
*Beer, Wine, and Alcohol
Some people seem to think it's funny to watch their dog stagger around tipsy after giving them some form of alcoholic beverage. Not only can booze make your dog drunk, even small amounts can cause problems like diarrhea, vomiting, loss of coordination, problems with breathing, coma, and even death. The smaller your dog is, the more likely he is to have problems like these and the more serious they are likely to be. Etc

The best way to keep your dog healthy is to talk to his vet about what you should be feeding him/ her and make sure you are feeding a well-balanced nutritious diet. How your dog may react to people foods will vary greatly depending on his breed and size. While, in most cases, a small treat from time to time may not cause any lasting harm, your best bet is to keep certain people foods away from your Dog.

This is your dog after you call chipili saying
“My dog has become a problem, it is always getting me dirty in the morning, chasing chickens, chasing people, dragging me on road when I take it for walks. Ah it has just become a nuisance”.

And your dog whispers to my ears 👂 “THEY ALLOW ME TO!, THEY HAVE NO WORD OF COMMAND. THE FACT IS I‘M JUST A DEPENDENT HERE AND AM SUPPOSED TO GO BY THEIR RULES.”😄

DOG BUSINESS.

Yesterday I came across a video, where a reporter spoke about dog business in Zambia and how people are making thousands of kwachas 💵. Before you even think about it! I have this to say DOG BUSINESS IS NOT CHICKEN BUSINESS BA UNCLE. A lot of upcoming breeders will only focus on one goal, which is MAKING MONEY, and not investing their time in researching and knowing the purpose of breeding dogs. Now the people that were told MU MBWA MWALIBA INDALAMA (in dogs there is money) are the people breeding their dogs nonstop, breeding related dogs (inbreeding), breeding any dog with any dog (so they can sale), have no time to get educated about dogs traits, they will not invest time and money in dogs but will always expect dogs to give them money.🤦‍♂️
Dog breeding is involving, this is why one has to get more information before they think of starting the business. It’s not for the faint hearted.
Breed with purpose, so you do not put people’s lives at risk.
Napita…🚶‍♂️
HAPPY YOUTH DAY BA YUFI!

Yeah, this is a really sad development indeed. Even as we continue striving to sensitise people on dog ownership and management, such stories become major setbacks and we can want to look at other factors that may be in play like how the dogs are always caged and seldom interact with people just like one of the caretakers said "yakwanisa che olo 1 month so tender tikalibe kuiziba behaviour." I really don't like to have to use this as an example but we just have to take a lesson from this. May we please socialize with our dogs and very important teach them how to live with people, especially those who live next to it because alot of boredom causes bad behaviour and we will end up referring to the dog as viscous. Chipili's pets, kindly share your thoughts even as we continue to pass our condolences to the family of the deceased 🙏.

Good evening !

I hope this message finds you well.

I am working on an important animal-welfare project focused on dogs in Lusaka and I believe your support can make a significant impact.

I have created a short survey that aims to gather information about the well-being of dogs in Zambia. I would be grateful if you could take 5-10 minutes to complete the survey and share it with as many current/former dog owners as you know (including family members). Every response is valuable and will help in improving the lives of dogs in Zambia.

Your contribution to this project is greatly appreciated and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about the survey or the project in general. My goal is to have 150-500 responses this month.

Thank you for your time and support.

Best regards,

Tio
