Our gorgeous boytjie, Hollyhock's Aspen, has started his training and is going to be heading to Johannesburg soon to finish up and then hopefully find a human that he can call his very own.

What I can tell you, is that whoever ends up with this exceptional gelding is really going to have something very special indeed 😍🐎
He's the epitome of everything a Nooitgedachter stands for. So very proud of this one.

Unfortunately we start this new year on a rather sad note.

One of our beloved broodmares, Sila, has crossed the rainbow bridge.

Bred by the Wilgerus Stud in 2005, this exceptional mare was the epitome of everything a Nooitgedachter should be. Level-headed, gentle, affectionate, fun, intelligent and totally charming. She was literally of a top Nooitie caliber.

I am just so grateful that her genetics will continue to live on through her filly, Hollyhock's Clivia, and her amazing legacy will continue to influence our breeding lines as we strive to breed and preserve this one of a kind horse breed.

Fly high my girl, until we meet again.

The calm before the storm. Each July the older c**ts are brought in for castration ✂️
The castrations are held during the colder winter period when there are less active flies which decrease the risk of infections.
This year 5 boys got the snip. A pretty quick and easy procedure really, the vet sedates the boys, testicles removed, a quick stitch and they're awake and grazing again. They are kept dosed up on pain meds and antibiotics afterwards.
