Please, can someone open their heart and home? 🐾💔

This precious Miniature Pinscher girl has already given her best years… now she only longs for one thing: a soft bed, gentle hands, and a family to love her in her golden years. 🌸

She’s an older lady who deserves to spend the last chapter of her life surrounded by love, not stuck in a vet clinic cage. Every day that passes is another day she waits… confused and lonely. 💔

She is currently in Krugersdorp at Silverfield's Vet, but we will arrange out-of-area adoptions if it means she can finally know peace.

‼️ Just to clear up any confusion about Bruno - the moment we received the call, we rushed out straight away to fetch him. He is safe and sound in our care 💙

This morning I received a call from a concerned neighbour asking for help with a dog who had been abandoned. His name is Bruno.

Bruno had gone missing a while ago, and instead of waiting for him to return, his owner got a new dog. Weeks later, Bruno finally made his way back home, but the new dog and Bruno didn’t get along. Instead of helping him adjust or finding a safe solution, his owner simply left him outside the property.

Since then, this poor boy has been waiting at the gate, hoping his owner would let him back in. Day after day, he sat there… but it became painfully clear that the door he was waiting for would never open again. 💔

I’m a 1-year-old Boerboel x Pitbull boy with a heart full of love and a spirit that refuses to quit.

When I was just 4 months old, I was brought into a vet clinic really sick… I had CPV (Canine Parvo Virus) and rickets, which made my legs painfully bowed. I was so uncomfortable that I tried to lick my joints to soothe them, but that only made things worse. Painful hotspots turned into serious infections, and sadly, one of them became too severe to save. I had to have my front left leg amputated.

When my owner found out… he never came back. He stopped answering calls, stopped checking in and just left me there. I didn’t understand why. But I didn’t stay alone for long.

That’s when Special Paws Sanctuary stepped in. They didn’t just see a broken puppy, they saw me. They helped me build strength in my remaining front leg, helped me learn how to run and play again, and gave me all the love I was missing.

Today, I’m strong, playful, and full of joy. I zoom around with my friends, wrestle, cuddle, and chase toys like any other dog. You’d never guess I only have three legs!

I’m a social butterfly – I love people, other dogs, and being part of the action. That’s why I’d really love a forever home with at least one furry friend (or more!) to keep me company. I’ve got a lot of love to give and all I ask for in return is a soft place to land and a heart that won’t give up on me.

Meet Dahlia ✨

On our way home, we spotted this fragile little soul rummaging for food along the roadside. She was crawling with ticks and fleas, in rough condition, and it’s truly a miracle she wasn’t sick 💔. At only about a year old, Dahlia was terrified and clearly unfamiliar with gentle, loving hands.

We later learned she had already been seen wandering the same area on the 17th of August… and we only found her on the 1st of September. That means she survived all that time alone 😔.

Once Dahlia realised she was safe with us, guaranteed tasty food, fresh water, and a soft bed - her true nature bloomed. She is the sweetest, gentlest girl 🩷. She adores belly rubs and head scratches, and she has never once shown aggression.

But sadly, Dahlia is not coping in our busy shelter. She spends most of her day curled up in a corner, quietly hiding away. She is just too calm and soft for the chaos here. What she desperately needs is a peaceful home where she can finally exhale and blossom into the dog she’s meant to be.

If you can open your heart and home to this darling girl, whether forever or even temporarily - please reach out. She deserves to know the warmth of family and the safety of a place where she truly belongs.

When Bear went for his first groom, he was so unwell - battling a terrible infection, his little body weak, his left eye painfully ulcerated and right eye hanging out. He had no energy, no spark… just exhaustion and discomfort 💔

Today, after his groom: Bear is a different soul. His eye has healed so beautifully, his tail wags with joy, and his smile says it all. He’s full of life, light and hope again 💙

Watching his transformation has been nothing short of a blessing. What a brave, beautiful boy. 🐾✨

Adoptions have been heartbreakingly slow, and while our dogs are safe with us, nothing compares to having a family of their own. With the warmer months rolling in, we dream of seeing our precious babies chasing butterflies, rolling in the grass, and going on summer adventures with their very own people. 🐾💛

Starting a new shelter is exciting, but it’s also overwhelming. There are endless things to figure out – one of the most important being which microchips to use and where to get them at the best value. I thought it would be a long, confusing process… until I came across Agrichip.

Today, we had to say goodbye to Grace. 💔

She was abandoned, left to die, discarded like she didn’t matter – but she did. So much. Her life mattered. Her story mattered. Her heart mattered.

This morning, I made the hardest decision – to let her go before her pain became even more unbearable. She left this world peacefully, in my arms, with a tummy full of chocolate, treats, and McDonald’s burgers – and a heart full of love from so many of us who cared for her, even in such a short time.

Grace, I wish I had more time with you. I wish life had been kinder. But I promise – you will never be forgotten. You are proof that even in the shortest moments, love can change everything.

Run free, sweet girl. No more pain. Only love. Always. 🩷

Hi everyone,

I’m sorry for only updating now – I needed a little time to process everything. This morning, our beautiful Grace went into Vaal Animal Clinic, and we received the worst possible news…

Grace has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a vicious and aggressive bone cancer 💔. It has already spread rapidly, and sadly, it’s far too advanced for treatment. The vets estimate she might only have around two months left, but those two months would be filled with pain and suffering – something we simply cannot allow.

At Special Paws, we believe every dog deserves a second chance, but we also believe in showing kindness by sparing them from unnecessary pain. We will fulfil the claim period, which ends on Monday, in case someone comes forward for her. But if no one does, we will gently help Grace gain her angel wings while holding her close and showering her with all the love she deserves.

Until then, she will be kept comfortable, on strong pain medication, and spoiled with tasty foodies and endless cuddles.

Thank you to every single person who donated toward her urgent care and showed up for Grace. She knows she has an army of love behind her 🩷
