SAWS Sterilisation Day – 8 April 2026

What an incredible day in Stanford! In collaboration with SAWS, our team at EberVet CVC successfully completed 19 sterilisation procedures, helping make a real difference in animal welfare within the community.

From careful admin and patient prep, to surgery and recovery, every step was handled with compassion and teamwork. A big thank you to Veronica Carter and the Stanford Animal Welfare Society team for ensuring everything ran smoothly. These days have many moving parts, and your organisation made all the difference.

It was heartwarming to see owners supporting their pets, and our team working tirelessly to ensure each patient was cared for every step of the way.

We’re proud to be part of initiatives that promote responsible pet ownership and healthier communities.

We’ll be back again on 29 April!

Empowering Communities Through Animal Welfare

On 21–22 March, Snoet tot Stert hosted a hands-on Field Worker Training Programme, equipping passionate volunteers with practical skills to better care for animals in their communities.

From learning to manage common conditions to understanding when to seek veterinary care, this training is all about making a real, lasting impact where it matters most.

The feedback says it all: “Informative, eye-opening, and truly empowering.”

What. A. Year! 840 lives changed in 2025

This year, EberVet Community Veterinary Care sterilised 840 animals, but numbers don’t tell the whole story.

That’s 840 lives protected, 840 healthier futures and countless unwanted litters prevented.

Behind every life changed this year is a sponsor who believed in what we do.
A special thank you to National Sterilization Project and Firstrand Foundation Trust for your support and helping us bring compassionate veterinary care to those who needed it most. Your impact reaches far beyond numbers, it reaches lives. Your support helped us serve:

1. Greyton Animal Welfare - Greyton
2. Karoo Animal Protection Society - Klein Karoo
3. Sterithon - Gansbaai
4. De Rust Cat Project - De Rust with help from C.A.T Cat Trapping
5. Pets Empowerment in Townships (PETS) - Helderberg area
6. Sweet Paws - Helderberg
7. Helderberg Animal Welfare Society - Helderberg
8. Street Support SA - Helderberg area

Thank you to every pet parent, supporter and team member who helped make a real difference. Together, we’re creating a kinder future, one paw at a time.

Community in Action for Animals in Gansbaai

On 11 December, something truly special happened in Gansbaai. Volunteers, animal welfare organisations, businesses and community members came together with one shared purpose: to improve the lives of animals who need us most.

This initiative marked one of the first projects under Community Animal Action (CAA), founded by Adele Kokt, Dee Henderson and Sheryll Steyn, and showed just how powerful collaboration, compassion and teamwork can be.

From staff from Country Animal Clinic and EberVet Vetshops to volunteers from Gansbaai, Stanford, and CAA caring for animals during recovery, every role mattered.

A heartfelt thank you to the EberVet Vetshop volunteers from Station Mall and Vetshop Onrus, who supported post-operative care with flea and tick treatments and organised donation drives that made a meaningful difference on the day. We’re also grateful to the Hermanus-based EberVet Vetshops for pooling their efforts in support of spaying animals in Gansbaai.

This initiative was strengthened by the generosity of EMS Foundation, FirstRand Volunteers, local businesses, individuals, and the support of Overstrand Law Enforcement.

Because of this collective effort, animals received essential care and a foundation was laid for future CAA projects.

The next Community Animal Action initiative is planned for February, and we can’t wait to continue this journey together.

Thank you to everyone who showed up with open hands and open hearts.

EDITED FOR CLARITY

GAWS Sterilisation Success! 2025 Wrap-Up!

Greyton Animal Welfare Society completed their last sterilisation day for the year, and what a result! They reached a total of 259 sterilisations for 2025, and EberVet CVC helped with 44% of that total too. We are rather proud of our team who helped.

A massive thanks to Rene and Eileen, Regina (FANS), Nicky (GAWS), Leon and the amazing Greyton Community volunteers who ran the Recovery Station!

And a very special thanks to National Sterilisation Project, without your help none of this would be possible.

The work never stops, we already have 4 dates in our calendar for 2026!

Thank you for your support!

Successful Sterilisation Clinic with KAPS!

We're so thrilled to share the success of our recent sterilisation clinic held on October 8th & 9th in Zoar (close to Ladismith)!

A massive thank you to our incredible team and the widely respected leader of KAPS (Karoo Animal Protection Society), Colette Teale!

Pawsitive Impact
52 animals were sterilised at this clinic!

Sterilisation is a vital procedure that helps to keep the pet population and neglect under control in the community.

This marks our 17th year of working alongside KAPS, and we continue to be inspired by the positive impact Colette and her team are making, often without help from the municipalities they serve.

Behind the Scenes
It takes a truly fanatical love for animals to do this work!

We captured a few special moments from the weekend:

Assistant Jackie and Sr. Hilda Mills preparing a patient for their operation.

Colette Teale always providing that little extra TLC and essential post-op cuddles for patients who need it most.

A rare moment for a break with tea and a cuddle for Sr. Hilda Mills and Colette Teale.

We'll be back in November to sterilise another 50 animals!

Thank you to everyone who supports this essential work!

Heritage Day in Our Community

Today, while South Africans came together to celebrate our heritage, our EberVet team spent the day giving back to the community we love. Through our Heritage Day Spay Day, we were able to help local pets live healthier lives and bring a little hope to their families.

Heritage Day is about celebrating who we are and at EberVet, that means standing together, caring for one another, and protecting the animals that are part of our homes and communities.

Thank you to everyone who supported today. This is the spirit of Ubuntu in action.

Spay Day Success in Sir Lowry’s

This past weekend, our EberVet Community Vet Clinic partnered with PETS in Sir Lowry’s for a very successful Spay Day.

In just one day, we were able to sterilise 34 animals, 19 dogs and 15 cats, helping to reduce unwanted litters and improve the health and wellbeing of pets in the community.

This incredible achievement was made possible by our dedicated CVC team: Dr Bennie, René and Eileen. With only one vet on site, this result is truly commendable.

We are proud of our team and thankful to PETS for their ongoing commitment to animal welfare.
