It turns out our furry friends are actually quite thin-skinned! 😮 While we have about 10–15 layers of skin cells, dogs only have 3–5.

This is why a small irritant, like a stray pollen grain or a single flea bite, can feel like a major disaster to them. When they scratch, they reach the "sensitive stuff" much faster than we do.
