In life there are many valleys and many mountain tops, and to truly enjoy life, it is the best to be content in all of life’s seasons. We all heard the phrase where people say they got their qualification at the school of life, and it is so true. We learn life’s greatest lessons through first hand experience.
Now in Pieter and Ulandi’s life, this was how things went; up and down, mountain tops and valley lows, but with God, they got through it all and still do. They met at a youth camp called Jumpstart in 2004 and became best friends even though Ulandi lived in Musina and Pieter in Pretoria. In February 2005 they found that they really liked each other and moved on to a committed relationship 26 February 2005. November 2006 Pieter felt he must move on on his own and their paths separated. Pieter had word that Ulandi would be his wife, but they should first discover life on their own, and so it was. 7 Years later, 13 August 2013, Ulandi and Pieter started talking again. It was a long 7 years, but God is faithful to His word. 9 November 2013 Pieter and Ulandi was engaged to be married and they became one before God 15 November 2014.
Now Ulandi moved to Potchefstroom with her parents in 2005 and went to school there and also did some tertiary courses after school, but she saw a need in her suburb for a special place where dogs can stay when their families go on holiday. God knew where he was going with Pieter and Ulandi, and the plan for Pawsome Pet Lodge was already part of everything. When Ulandi moved to Pretoria, she left everything and handed her business over to someone else. She started a job and everything was new, bigger and far from what she was used to. Pieter and Ulandi knew there would be challenges, it was really tough making things work financially on their own, but they did it, they lived through it. When they were married about 4 months, their flat burnt down and everything was destroyed, they stayed at different places for about 3-4 months before they got a place again, and God really restored them and put them in a better position prior to what happened. This is how God works, with Him there is always growth, we should always stay close to His heart.
January 2017 they had word that they should start the business in looking after peoples dogs when they are on holiday. At the time they had no premises, no funds, no guarantee that it will work, Pretoria is bigger with different people and other challenges. They obeyed and started Pawsome Petsitting (the name at the time). This was all part time and took a lot from them as they still worked full time, but they made it work. After three years of marriage, there was a wonderful gift of life, 22 December 2017, Lanje Smit was born. She was such a blessing to our family. In October 2017, the Holy Spirit told Pieter He would not be working at his employer by February 2018 anymore, and so it was, Pieter lost his job end of February 2018 just as the Holy Spirit said and soon after Ulandi lost her job as well. There was never fear in their hearts, because they could see God’s fingerprints all over their lives.
