To all those who knew and loved Jenty,

It is with a heavy heart that we are writing this post to inform you of Jenty’s passing this past Friday, 24th May.
Jenty had been ill for the last few weeks with what the doctors initially thought was pneumonia. Last week, after a series of tests they realized her thyroid cancer (previously thought to be in remission) had spread to her lungs. There was very little time between her diagnosis and her passing - on Friday she was moved to George to start radiation and chemo, and we lost her on Friday night.

We are all shaken by the loss, but surrounded by family and taking one day at a time. There will be an intimate memorial service on Saturday afternoon in Plettenberg Bay for those who were close with Jenty – if you would like to be there, please reach out to Kristi on +27 73 370 5037 for the details.

Thank you for the outpouring of love and support we have received over the last few days, it is a testament to how loved and treasured Jenty was.
We will be memorializing this page, please feel free to post any thoughts, messages or photos to honour her memory.

With love and gratitude,

Luc and Charles

IVERMECTIN AND WEST NILE VIRUS Hi everyone, there’s been a lot of discussions about Ivermectin and AHS. It hasn’t yet been ascertained whether it helps prevent or treat AHS..... one thing is certain, it can’t do harm.
I’ve recently learnt that Ivermectin only works against certain viruses ... corona being one and very interestingly, WEST NILE VIRUS as well! Please remember that, it can save lives!

UNDERSTANDING AHS: What causes the symptoms and the difference between dunkop, dikkop and the mixed form.

Firstly the function of the heart:
There are 4 chambers: L and R atrium for receiving blood and L and R ventricle for pumping blood.
L atrium (LA) receives oxygenated blood from the lungs
L ventricle (LA) pumps oxygenated blood to the body
RA receives deoxygenated blood from the veins throughout the body
RV pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs.

The AHS virus is known to cause endothelial cell damage to blood vessels. Endothelial cells are the cells lining the inside of blood vessels. When pressure increases in these damaged blood vessels, fluid will leak out into the surroundings tissues. Blood vessels of the heart( myocardial vessels) are most commonly affected due to the AHS virus multiplying there.

If the LV is damaged and not pumping efficiently, pressure will build up in the LA and blood vessels of the lungs. This will lead to fluid leaking out of the blood vessels and into the lungs leading to pulmonary oedema. (Seen as difficulty breathing and foam coming out the nose). This is the dunkop form.

If the RV is not pumping efficiently, pressure will increase in the RA and blood vessels coming from the rest of the body. This leads to fluid leaking out under the skin, ie subcutaneous oedema. (Seen as supraorbital and subcutaneous swellings).
This is the dukkop form.

When both the L and R ventricles are affected, this will lead to the mixed form.

Severe damage of L or R ventricle (as seen with very high viral counts), will result in acute heart failure and death.

I hope this info will help in understanding this dreadful disease and also to make informed choices when choosing treatment options. In my opinion, careful use of diuretics ( herbal, homeopathic or conventional meds) and cardiac support are absolutely essential together with immune support.

Wishing you and all your horses well!
