Yesterday, while delivering a kennel and doing some follow-up treatments, we were absolutely shocked to come across this severely emaciated dog. We suspect he may have Erlichia, and we will be taking him to the vet on the 22nd of May during our next mass sterilization drive.

In the meantime, Robert and Hendrik repaired his kennel with what we had on hand, and we will be feeding him and provisionally treating him with Doxy Vet.

We are no longer used to seeing dogs in such terrible condition in Kareedouw, so this was truly heartbreaking to witness.

Thank you to all our amazing supporters for making it possible for us to continue helping animals like this. Without your support, we simply could not do this vital work. Every donation, every bag of food, every act of kindness truly makes a difference. ❤️🐾

Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms out there — especially the animal moms with hearts big enough to love the voiceless too 🐾❤️

Thank you for every rescue, every feeding, every sleepless night, every vet visit, every cuddle, and every act of compassion. Whether you are a mom to children, fur babies, farm animals, or all of the above — your love makes this world a gentler, kinder place.

Today we celebrate your nurturing hearts, your strength, and the unconditional love you give so freely. May you feel appreciated, cherished, and deeply loved today and always.

Happy Mother’s Day 🌸

The last few days have been extremely rough in the Langkloof. We had a 50 animal sterilization drive scheduled for the 8th May, but due to the devastating weather conditions it became completely impossible and has now been rescheduled for the 22nd May.

Roads between Kareedouw and Joubertina have been washed away by severe flooding, and many people’s homes have either been badly damaged or tragically washed away completely. Our hearts are with every family affected during this difficult time.

We were deeply concerned about the animals during these harsh conditions, but we were truly touched and pleasantly surprised by the Kareedouw community opening their hearts and homes to animals that did not have sufficient outdoor shelter. Thank you for showing such compassion and kindness when it mattered most.

Lizette is unfortunately currently stuck on her farm in Twee Riviere due to the flooding, but welfare checks will resume as soon as she is mobile again. At this stage, things remain uncertain regarding how we will continue weekly outreach in Joubertina with the roads being washed away, but we will cross that bridge — or perhaps rather “road” — when we get there.

To every supporter, donor, volunteer and community member — thank you. We truly would not be able to continue this work without your support. Your kindness makes all the difference for the animals of the Langkloof. ❤️🐾

When volunteer Sheldon first spotted this dog in Ravinia on Saturday, he knew something was terribly wrong.

The dog was emaciated, her body riddled with mange, and she was too wild and fearful to be caught.

Despite Sheldon’s efforts, the dog disappeared — but the mission to save her had already begun.

Lizette and Bianca immediately stepped in, going up and down Ravinia with a photo of the dog, asking residents if anyone knew where she belonged. Eventually, they found the owners. Lizette gave them her number and pleaded with them to call the moment they saw her again.

They never did.

With severe weather approaching, Lizette searched relentlessly, refusing to give up on her. Street by street, day after day, driven by urgency and compassion.

And then, on Tuesday the 5th of May…
She was found.

After days of searching, worry, and determination — this fragile, suffering soul is finally safe.
But her journey is far from over.

SHe now needs urgent veterinary care, treatment for mange, proper nutrition, and a chance to heal from the neglect she has endured.

This is what rescue looks like.
This is why we don’t give up.

To every single person who supports us — whether through donations, sharing our posts, or simply caring — thank you. This is exactly where your help goes. You are part of every life we save, every animal we fight for, and every second chance we are able to give.

If you would like to support her recovery, please consider donating or reaching out to help.

Together, we gave her a second chance. Now let’s help her heal.

🚨 URGENT APPEAL – WE NEED YOUR HELP 🚨

On 8 May, we have the opportunity to sterilize 50 animals — a chance to prevent future suffering and reduce overpopulation in our communities.

But right now, our funds are at an all-time low… and we cannot do this without YOU.

We urgently need support to:
🐾 Transport the animals to Humansdorp for sterilization
🐾 Provide each pet with a small bag of food after their procedure

This is not just about sterilization — it’s about giving these animals a better, healthier future.

Every donation, no matter how small, makes a real difference. If you can’t donate, please share this post — it could reach someone who can help.

💔 We cannot afford to miss this opportunity.
❤️ Please stand with us and help us help them.

OUPA JAN!

Oupa Jan was enjoying some TLC whilst being treated for mange and being dewormed. Our hearts are always a little softer when working with senior dogs.
