Some of our Speckled Sussex pullets on their way to their new home this morning - to a very dear repeat customer. We still have a couple of hens and roosters available. Pairs at R1200 each but we can also sell single roos and hens.

Fertile Easter Egger eggs for Sal at R15/egg excluding postage and packaging. Minimum order 18 eggs.

The lighting isn't great (more pics available on request) but these are all various shades of blue, grey and olive. We currently don't have any hens laying plain colours.

Our chickens are a combination of Araucana, Easter Egger with the odd dash of Faverolles.

What do our dogs on the homestead eat?

Quite simply - venison pets mince, goat's yoghurt or milk, egg and butternut or sweet potato. They also chew on bones that they find lying around. Living where we live, that's quite a frequent find.

Petra is also currently on a probiotic, herbal tinctures for liver and detox support, silicea, as well as a natural antibiotic and MSM. A few weeks ago she stood on a nasty thorn and while she was much better after a visit to the vet, there is still some discomfort and pus coming from the area so I suspect there may be remnants that her body is still expelling.

The probiotic, detox and liver support is to hopefully counter the effects of the sedation, antibiotic and anti-inflammatory that she had at the vet.

Wherever possible we try to use natural remedies, and if we can't, we use natural remedies to support the body.

A bit of our bounty for the day! We have plenty of Egyptian Walking Onions and South American Red and Purple potatoes for sale.

Either of these gems can be planted at any time of the year. They are hardy and thrive in the most challenging of conditions. Our potatoes have a lower GI Index that normal potatoes and they are beautiful to look at - their colour carries all the way through the potato.
