Old Hill Propriety Limited

Old Hill is a farm based meat processing facility. The company was founded to separate the added-value functions of marketing and sales from the actual farming operations. We are located on Inyathi Game Ranch - a combined game & cattle farm. The cattle farming operation and the de-boning plant / butchery have been certified by the Grassfed Association of South Africa (GFASA) as well the South African Meat Industry Corporation (SAMIC). This means our operation has been audited and verified that the animals are indeed free roaming and graze only natural veld and grass pasture – no maize, no hormones, no routine antibiotics, no steroids or any other stimulants. Our animals are humanely treated and animal welfare is a priority for us. Animals are slaughtered at an on-farm facility 10km from our farm, this significantly reduces transport and handling stress whilst also limiting bruising to carcasses. Thereafter the carcasses are matured (dry aged on the bone) in our cold room for a minimum of 14 days before being processed. We can supply Chevon (goat) and Beef under the GFASA label, but also supply lamb from a neighbouring farmer who farms with the same ethics and mindset as us. The sheep are free roaming and are kraaled at night where they are supplemented with maize rations. No implants, steroids, hormones or routine anti-biotics are administered.
