Knysna Dwarf Chameleon
(Bradypodion damaranum)

These little critters are always a joy to find and observe.
They are a forest living species found in a small strip of natural habitat along the Garden Route Coast. If you are lucky you might find them in your garden.

They can be a common in some areas, however they are under a lot of pressure from loss of habitat due to development, and they also make an easy target to even the most unfit house kitty.

Be sure to keep an eye out for these little green critters when you are exploring the forest along the Garden Route.

Painted Reed Frog
(Hyperolius marmoratus verrucosus)

These little frogs seem to find a place to hide during the dat in just about any cover, sometimes even right in the open. Even so, it is amazing how few people even notice them as they are actually rather common in the right locations, hiding in plain sight.

Our baby is 3 years old today! Happy birthday, Rogue! πŸŽ‰πŸ₯³

She got to move into her new enclosure, we call it enclosure 2.0. This enclosure will be upgraded giving her more surface area to use, but it just seemed right to let her enjoy all the extra space on her birthday.

This enclosure measure at 1,8m by 0,7m surface area, compared with her previous 1,2 by 0,45m enclosure, a big upgrade and she can easily streatch out fully without even getting close to the full length of her new abode.

Let us know if you would like to see more of Rogue and get updates on her in the future in the comments.

Went for a bit of a walk in our local critter spot. We love finding these little dragons hanging around, and now that the season is changing they seem to be extra active.

Keep an eye open on our future posts to see what else we found.

Blue-spotted Girdled Lizard
(Ninurta coeruleopunctatus)

This little character showed his bright blue spots during a short hike we took along the Half-Collard Kingfisher Trail in the Garden Route National Park.

These lizards are found along a small section of the Garden Route, but can often be seen moving around along the rocks of mountain trails.

Keep an eye open for these active lizards on your hikes when you are in the Garden Route National Park.

Leprous Milkweed Locust
(Phymateus leprosus)

A busy weekend waa had looking for new critters. This locust was a great find. Milkwees Locust might not be rare, but they make for wild looking photos.

These critters are often brightly coloured as a warning to other animals that they will most likely not make for a tasty treat as they release a toxic secretion when threatened.

Be sure to keep an eye open for these critters when you are exploring.
