It was a long road converting this foster fail (22 years of age) of mine to eat healthier pellets and I can finally say that he is eating our jacobiez pellets. He came to me on pellets but barely ever ate them and most of it just became powder and i wasted bags and bags of it. Feeding him has been a struggle, he barely likes veggies and fruits either but we are still working on that. Our list is still growing monthly.
I have struggled to get him to eat pellets for about two years but with patience and love we finally got him there. Now he cannot get enough of it. I have never seen him eat so much and so well. I am so incredibly proud as a parrot owner. As I write this, coco (who renamed himself) has been munching on pellets for the last 10min, singing in between. Our pellets do not disintegrate into a powder. When broken they fall as little whole pieces which can be eaten again. This prevents wastage of pellets and means maximum nutrition is being take in by your parrots.
This post is a reminder to all my clients and any parrot owners out there still struggling. As I always tell everyone, persistence is key. It is not the parrot that gives up, but the owners. We all don't like to see our animals unhappy, but a little tough love can save them in the long run. It took me a while to learn this too.
Parrots are hard work and require much dedication. Never give up. It may take days, months or years but you will get there, they will get there and they will be healthier and happier for it.
For anyone struggling to get their parrots onto better food you are always welcome to pop us a whatsapp and we will gladly send you some tips and tricks. For anyone wanting a sample of our pellets please get in touch.
Parrots are thriving on our pellets. They may not look the same as what's on the shelves in SA but that's because they have a large variety of ingredients including vegetables like carrot, peas and pumpkin in them not just corn, wheat and soya. For a list of ingredients and to give our pellets a try please visit our website www.jacobiez.co.za
Our pellets come in small crumble for all the smaller parrots out there. We have many clients who.prefer even the crumble for their larger parrots as there is less waste. You can also mix it nicely into chop.
