Oh Wow what a lovely day everyone had at The Annual Rotary Bowls day on Saturday!!
The turnout was very very heartwarming with some 60+ participants rolling woods on the greeans Albeit that the greeans are no so green at the moment?? But a lot of fun and laughter could be heard all around the greens
All the money raised will be used by Rotary to support folk in the local community What a project!!
Also a VERY big thank to all the friends of Rotary who wonderfully supported the day!! And of course don't forget the team who kept the hamburgers coming to feed the hungry bowlers Well done to the Rotary team and everyone else who supported the day THANK YOU!!!

We would like to congratulate Anita as president for the rotary year 2024/2025.

What a lovely fair well piece from PP Bev, with permission, which is well worth a read. Thank you Bev!

"Its not the Captain that sails or saves a ship but the crew"

Sailing vessel Creating Hope in the world has docked for the final time having visited many ports along its 365 day journey. Her crew held the lines tightly whatever the waters threw at her.

She replenished her provisions at the Golf Day, a port not visited for many a year. She anchored briefly in calm bays allowing sailors to disembark and, at other anchorages, newbies were able to embark or to view her decks.

Her major destination was to provide for others and for her seas. This she did sternly not bowing once to choppy waters but kept the stars abroad and her eye on the port ahead. She sailed along a long lost RotaryDent coastline to tumultuous welcome and accolades. And although briefly, she shared some R25 000 worth of nourishment for humans and pets alike. 42 citrus trees were planted which will both prevent scurvy for the local inhabitants of the lands as well as provide life giving oxygen for all living creatures. Linen, clothing, yarn, brand new jerseys and more were gifted at familiar comfortable moorings.

During her voyage, her crew entertained elderly and other infirm folk bereft of transport and, as she crossed the equator, Neptune assisted in providing multiple gifts of year-end special treats for children and adults. And she only once tossed swimmers overboard into icy waters to swim for polio. Her EarlyAct and other youthful activities helped her remain calm and keep an eye on the distant horizon. Her crew ate well en route thanks to the many varied chefs in the galley.

So now as she becomes a relic, she watches The Magic of Rotary, a new and sturdy vessel, set sail for the first time with a strong team manning the bridge.

Gentle winds, Magic of Rotary, may the seas lie smooth before you and kindness warm your soul.

well well what can one write about a project such as this one?? Rotarydent 2024 has come and gone!! wow what a success !! After many many months of planning and I amsure many a sleepless night it all came together this past week! I don't want to bore with facts , but one just has to look at what has been achieved during this past week atotal of 10schools were involved and some 3361 leaners were screened for dental issues and a massive 2824 prcedures were done!! What a number Unfortunately, as always there is also a down side because of the 10 schools who were supposed to make their learners available only 9 schools attended.
One can only really say a huge huge thank you to these American Dentists who pay their own way to come and support this Rotary project and boy they sur worked their butts of with dom msny learners needing dental care!! If ever there was acase for service above self , this has to be it Also one must never forget the Rotarians themselves who hosted our guests during this wonderful week of service to our learners. One does not want to single out any individuals in a project such as this one , as most of the Rotarians and in some cases others who offered up their homes, their time and of course preparing food and nourishments for the so hard working folk. Two names do stand out and a big thank you to Marlyn and John for supplying 60 lunches a day You are sure chefs of note And of course one can never exclude the evening meals where most of our members were involved A great deal of fun and fellowship was enjoyed by all and even our own Dr. Sooraj climbed in and did his part as a dentist too. There was much laughter and fun and some great food every evening.
This Rotary Project is surely a great highlight on the Rotary calendar every year and a big thank you must go to Johann for all the behind scenes that he always does with this project I don't believe that anyone really realizes what effort and work goes into organizing such a project It must really test ones resolve And Last but not least our dear Dorothy from Medicine Arm in Arm in the USA who always gets the dentists to come to Dundee for this project
To everyone who was involved in anyway a truly huge thank you and we trust that you enjoyed being part of such a worthy project Service above Self!! GOD Bless you all and thank you!!
