When it rains, it pours...yet another skeletal dog 🌧️

When inflation kicks in, the animals are always hit first 💔

Noodle, as we have dubbed her, was abandoned when her owner left to follow work. Thank you to the neighbour who alerted us to her plight.

Noodle is approx one year old, she's incredibly trusting of humans and peaceful with dogs, cats unknown 🐶💕

In January 2026, Sidewalk Specials started running Emergency Clinics alongside our Sterilisation Clinics 🆘

The sheer amount of injured, sick and dying animals we were dealing with had made using private vet practices financially unsustainable 🚫

Instead Sidewalk Specials purchased medicines at cost, collected our hero vets at the crack of dawn and created an accessible, weekly veterinary clinic in the De Doorns township 👊🏻

Since January 2026, Sidewalk Specials clinic has completed 592 sterilisations and treated 404 emergency cases, including:

– 111 TVT chemotherapy treatments 💉

– 86 surgeries: stab wounds, dog fights, motor vehicle accidents, removal of cancerous tumours, injuries caused by chains and botched tail removals ❤️‍🩹

– 89 treatments for chronic tick bite fever, burns, eye and ear infections.

– 14 parvo virus cases ❤️

– 69 euthanasias for dogs too old/sick to be saved, sparing them slow and potentially painful deaths 😓

Now, with inflation rising and donations dropping, the future of our emergency clinic is hanging in the balance…😥

Sidewalk Specials needs to raise approx R250,000 ($15,382/ €13,291/ £11,372) in order to run the last twenty emergency clinics of 2026…

Siska is suffering from anaemia, tick-bite fever, chronic dermatitis (inflammation of the skin) and pyoderma (meaning “pus in the skin”).

NB. Siska’s skin issues are caused by a severely weakened immune system and, whilst uncomfortable for Siska, are not contagious to animals or humans ❤️‍🩹
