On 5 June, we received an urgent plea for help for Cookie, she had suffered a horrific wound that required immediate veterinary attention.

She was rushed to Aloe Vet after hours, where Dr Lamb stepped in to help. Cookie spent over a week in hospital receiving treatment, wound care, medication, and lots of TLC.

Today, we are incredibly grateful that she was given a chance. Cases like Cookie's remind us why rescue matters and why we never give up.

A huge thank you to Dr Lamb and the Aloe Vet team for their compassion, care, and dedication to Cookie.

A very special thank you as well to Dierk for everything he did for Cookie. Your kindness, support, and enormous heart helped give this precious girl a fighting chance. We are deeply grateful for all you have done for her. ❤️

For the last couple of years, we’ve been so grateful to be part of the Ballito Halloween House of Horrors, running a small kids’ games section to help raise funds for all the Paw Prints Rescue babies.

This year feels extra special… because we now get to host our very own experience.

We’re beyond excited to introduce our Fantasy Forest Maze, a magical, non-scary walk-through adventure designed especially for children (and grown-ups who still believe in a little magic too).

A whimsical forest experience filled with wonder, imagination and fun… and every step you take through it helps make a real difference to the doggies in our care. Because by visiting the Fantasy Maze, you’ll be directly supporting Paw Prints Rescue. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and every ticket sold helps us continue rescuing, caring for and rehoming dogs in need.

Behind every rescue page are human beings trying their best.

Independent rescue is built on compassion, sacrifice, sleepless nights, heartbreak, fundraising, vet trips, sterilisations, transport runs, and countless unseen hours spent trying to protect vulnerable animals.

What many people do not realise is that for most rescuers, this is not a paid job. We still have to work, earn an income, manage our personal lives, and somehow carry the emotional weight that comes with rescue too.

Sometimes responses are delayed. Sometimes we cannot help immediately. Sometimes rescuers are simply exhausted mentally, emotionally, and physically from carrying so much for so long.

The animals we lose and the ones we could not save stay with us far longer than most people realise.

We are incredibly grateful to every person who supports rescue with kindness, patience, donations, fostering, sharing posts, transport help, or simply understanding the reality behind the scenes.

Please remember to be kind to rescuers too. 🐾
