Behind every rescue page are human beings trying their best.

Independent rescue is built on compassion, sacrifice, sleepless nights, heartbreak, fundraising, vet trips, sterilisations, transport runs, and countless unseen hours spent trying to protect vulnerable animals.

What many people do not realise is that for most rescuers, this is not a paid job. We still have to work, earn an income, manage our personal lives, and somehow carry the emotional weight that comes with rescue too.

Sometimes responses are delayed. Sometimes we cannot help immediately. Sometimes rescuers are simply exhausted mentally, emotionally, and physically from carrying so much for so long.

The animals we lose and the ones we could not save stay with us far longer than most people realise.

We are incredibly grateful to every person who supports rescue with kindness, patience, donations, fostering, sharing posts, transport help, or simply understanding the reality behind the scenes.

Please remember to be kind to rescuers too. 🐾

The list of donors is growing and the first TON had been delivered to BLUE BUNDU BRIGADE and the second ton has been delivered to RSL Shelter today and third ton has reached Heartland, and we are almost at the full 4 ton which will be disptached as soon as the goal is reached! That leaves 16 centres waiting for their 1 ton ⚠️❤️

Lets secure this blessing for the other rescues ❤️ A small sense of urgency since the supplier will only hold the 20tons at R15p/kg for another 6 days.

On 17 May, the absolutely incredible vets and staff at Aloe gave up their Sunday to help by sterilising 18 cats and dogs for Sables Animal Rescue 🐾

We are beyond grateful for the compassion, kindness and dedication shown by every single person involved. Giving up your personal time to help reduce the breeding cycle and prevent future suffering means more than we can ever put into words.

Sterilisation saves lives. It helps reduce unwanted litters, eases the strain on rescues and gives animals a better future.

Thank you Aloe for your massive hearts, your hard work and for standing with us in making a real difference ❤️🐾

Paw Prints Rescue and Rehoming - NPC 2018/554039/08 PBO 930076636 is a truly amazing rescue with the biggest hearts. Please help if you can🙏

We need a miracle...

Honestly, we hate having to ask this.
We know it's hard hearing every couple of months how bad it is and how we need this and that...
But it is the way rescue works...
It is always for the dogs and always will be; and every single cent goes to vets and bills and more dog care and dog food and eventually...
all it takes us one bad month to have it all come crashing down.

We know things are bad for everyone but the thing is... We NEED to make it through the month for our dogs.
And that means asking you all for help

It has been the absolute worst month possible for us and at this point feels like it is only going more down hill.

We currently owe Vet On Main +-R60 000, Pulse Vet +-R50 000 and Hillcrest Vet +-R 30 000.

And beyond that we have wages and bills to keep lights on and water running.

We need your help... please.
We are honestly begging you.
We don't know what else to do...
