Avis Jean (Blackwell) Bailey
April 1, 1942 ~ February 17, 2020 (age 77)



Avis Jean Bailey, 77, of Mineola, Texas went home to be with our Lord and Savior on February 17, 2020. Avis was born to Thomas Blackwell and Bera Hartsfield Blackwell on April 1, 1942 in Hainesville, Texas. A Funeral Service for Avis will be Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Hubbard Chapel. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Lowe Funeral Home.

Avis was married to Paul Bailey for 59 years, and was a Beauty Operator for many years in Quitman, Texas. After she retired she spent much of her time working in the yard and in her flower beds.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters, Betty Jane Rhodes and Margaret JoAnn Robertson.

Avis is survived by her husband, Paul Bailey, daughters, Donna Lattin and husband Kenny Lattin, and Suzanne Carpenter and husband Duane Carpenter; grandchildren, Bobby Johnson and wife Michelle, Kyle Johnson, Jared Carpenter and wife Kristin, and Josh Carpenter and wife Ashton, and five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Kenny Lattin, Duane Carpenter, Bobby Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Jared Carpenter, and Josh Carpenter.

Donal Johnson’s Father passeS away. Here is his obituary. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.

U.S. Veteran
The family of Mack Johnson, 87, of Quitman, will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday evening, July 22, 2019, at Lowe Funeral Home. Funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Hubbard Chapel Baptist Church with Brother Rick Ellington and Thomas Atchley officiating. Interment will be held at Concord Cemetery immediately following the service.
Jack McDonal “Mack” Johnson was born in Gladewater on June 21, 1932 to Rollie E. and Mary Rotille (Robinson) Johnson. He lived in Quitman since he was 12 years old. He served two years in the U.S. Army. On July 17, 1954 he married the love of his life, Julia Faye Kirbo at First Baptist Church of Quitman, where the two were members for 50+ years before joining Hubbard Chapel Baptist Church. Mack was a cattleman and a member of the Registered Red Angus Association for more than 50 years. His professional life was spent in the oil field, holding positions for Amerada and Robbins Petroleum Corp. He retired in 1994 and spent the rest of his healthy life enjoying his farm and cattle.
Mack passed away Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Heritage Healthcare Residence in Quitman under Reflections Hospice Care.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lora Schulze and Marie Poster; an infant daughter, Debra Kay Johnson; and one son, Marty Johnson.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 65 years, Julia Faye Johnson of Quitman; two sons, Donal Johnson and wife Pam of Tyler, and David Johnson and wife Anita of Quitman; one sister, Mildred Stubbs; four grandchildren, Janelle Johnson and husband Storm, Amber Bramlett and husband Jeremy, Bobby Johnson and wife Michelle, and Kyle Johnson; four great grandchildren, Kimberlee Ashley, Noah Bramlett, Bristol Johnson, and Brooks Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Mack’s hospice nurses, the Heritage staff, Brenda Smart, and Donna Lattis for their loving and special care.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Allen Cameron, David Turner, Tommy Atchley, Dee Gilbreath, Darrin Champion, and Brian Roberts.
Honorary pallbearers are Bill Smart, Mike McQueen, and Billy Fields.
Flowers are welcome, but if desired, donations in memory of Mack may be made to the American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, or the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America.

Quitman volleyball will be honoring Mom, Pat Neighbors, Tuesday evening between the JV and Varsity games, I'm sure she would love to visit with any former students who wanted to come! If anyone has pictures of former teams would you post them and tag her and me, I'll make sure she sees them.
