🐾 Rocco is Looking for His Next Chapter 🐾

Rocco is still looking for his forever home, and that remains our goal. In the meantime, Gagné Homestead & Rescue is seeking a foster, foster-to-adopt, or adoptive home for this special boy.

Due to an ongoing back injury that has not improved as expected, Rocco's foster is no longer able to provide the level of exercise and activity that this young, energetic boy needs to thrive.

This decision comes from a place of love. Rocco is adored by his foster and has been thoroughly spoiled with special breakfasts, frozen berries, yogurt treats, toys, and endless affection. Because he is so loved, the difficult decision was made to put Rocco's needs first and begin searching for a home that can better support his active lifestyle while we continue looking for his forever family. He loves having a big yard to run around in and plays fetch.

❤️ What you should know about Rocco:

• Neutered, approximately 11 months old, smart, affectionate, loyal, and eager to learn
• Loves cuddling at night and sleeping in bed with his people
• Crate trained and comfortable spending time in his crate
• Loves having a chew toy in his crate—his version of a soother while he relaxes
• If given adequate exercise morning and evening, he can do well in a crate while his humans are at work
• Forms strong bonds with his family and loves being included in daily life

🐕 Other Dogs: Rocco can live with other dogs, but he needs time and proper introductions. He doesn't become friends overnight, but once comfortable, he enjoys having canine companions and currently plays happily with a bulldog mix in his foster home. He also lives with a chihuahua who is chill, but Rocco tends to be a little too rough at times - needs supervision.

🐱 Cats: A home without cats is much preferred, an extremely dog savvy cat would be acceptable. (The cat cannot run or Rocco will give chase.)

🐇 Small Animals:
No small animals, please. Rocco does have a prey drive.

✔ Active lifestyle
✔ Commitment to continued structure and training
✔ Understanding of large-breed dogs
✔ Patience during introductions to other pets

Let's be honest: it's hard to go out for dinner and entertainment these days for less than that. Not only do you get a full evening of fun, but every dollar helps a rescue that spends tens of thousands of dollars each year caring for animals that have been abandoned, neglected, surrendered, or simply had nowhere else to go.

Today we want to take a moment to recognize someone incredibly special to us — Lily ❤️

Lily has been by our side helping make Gagne Homestead And Rescue what it is today. Through the early days, the busy days, the difficult days, and the amazing days, she has always shown up with kindness, compassion, dedication, and the biggest smile.

Lily has a heart that is truly made for animals. Whether it’s helping care for animals, lending a hand wherever needed, giving comfort to those who need it most, or simply spreading happiness to everyone around her, she does it all without hesitation.

Many people have supported our rescue over the years, and we are beyond grateful for every single person who has helped us along the way — but this amazing young kid deserves recognition for the countless hours, endless love, and unwavering support she has given.

Her compassion, kindness, and dedication remind us exactly why rescue work matters. The animals absolutely adore her, our volunteers appreciate her, and we are incredibly lucky to have watched her grow alongside our rescue.

Lily — thank you for being you. Thank you for your endless love for animals. Thank you for your kindness. Thank you for believing in our mission from the very beginning. You have helped shape this rescue into what it is today, and we could not be more proud of you.
