🚩Abba arrived at the shelter after being found abandoned and neglected. She does not appear to have experience walking on a leash. Abba is underweight with a body condition score of 2/9 and has heavy shedding, scarring on her face, overgrown nails, and signs of ear irritation. Abba will need time, patience, and gentle handling to build trust and adjust to her new environment, along with continued medical care and good nutrition to support her recovery.

🚩Dewey was reported as a stray. At the shelter, he has been slow-moving but cooperative. Despite his initial shyness, he is willing to walk on leash and has shown minimal reaction to other dogs. Dewey is severely underweight with a body condition score of 1/9. He also has overgrown nails, flea dirt, two masses (one on his front leg and one on his hip), worn teeth, and weakness in his back legs. Bloodwork revealed several abnormalities, and his medical needs will require further evaluation.

🚩Hercules was brought to the shelter as an injured stray with a wound on his left back paw. He has been easy to leash and walk, though he can give a watchful “side eye” during handling in his kennel. Hercules has displayed some inappropriate behaviors, including jumping up on people and attempting to hump, as well as an incident during a meet-and-greet where he climbed into potential adopters’ laps, then showed teeth and gave a hard growl. No one was injured.

🚩Jujulala was brought to the shelter after being found as a stray by a rescue group and placed with a foster, where she attacked the foster’s dog. In the shelter, Jujulala has shown a recurring pattern of leash-biting behavior ands she will often redirect from toys or treats to grab the leash or, in one incident, a handler’s boot laces. She is strong and barrier reactive but has also been handled successfully with the right approach.

🚩Pansy was abandoned at a rehab center, where she had reportedly been tied to a tree before slipping out of her harness and roaming loose. She can be shy of the leash but will walk on it once secured. Pansy has a developed mammary chain, raw and inflamed skin in her right armpit, and very red sclera in both eyes, possibly from burst blood vessels. Pansy will need placement in a patient, experienced environment that can help her decompress and gradually learn to feel safe.

🚩Thumpy is a fearful dog who was impounded after roaming the area for at least three weeks. He had to be carried into the shelter and continues to refuse to walk the majority of the time, despite being easy to leash. Physically, Thumpy appears healthy aside from being dirty and having minor healing injuries, including scratches on his head, a small puncture on his lip, and mild ear debris.
