When I first spotted a lump on Tedās muzzle, my heart sank. On closer inspection, I saw not just one, but five little clusters of tiny red/orange dots. At first, I panicked, fearing something far more sinister.
After research (and many photos), I realised they were harvest mites, something Iād never seen before. It made me pause and wonder: why had they chosen him? Was it a lowered immune response? A sign his body was under stress?
Because Ted also experiences seizures, I wasnāt comfortable reaching straight for pharmaceuticals. Instead, I turned to something gentler, coconut oil, rich in lauric acid. Within two days, the mites began to die off and scab over.
This experience reminded me of the importance of slowing down, observing, and trusting that healing can sometimes be found in small, natural interventions. Of course, thereās always a place for veterinary support, but tuning into the bigger picture of Tedās health felt essential here šæ
As we move into autumn, Iām being mindful about supporting Tedās immune system with a gentle seasonal detox and rotating in supportive supplements and herbs, like zinc, vitamin C, and others that help nourish his resilience from the inside out šāØ
⨠Sometimes healing asks us to look beyond the obvious, to listen more closely, and to honour the bodyās wisdom in its own timing.
