Its that time of the year so here is my annual plea to anyone looking for a Basenji puppy, see photo as an indicator as to why it's important to purchase your Basenji puppy from a breeder and not a greeder. Basenjis especially are not an easy breed and require a lifetime of knowledge to help owners and dogs survive a life together.
If you are a first time puppy buyer do not purchase from anyone that is willing courier your puppy overseas to you, what happens when you need help....and you will!!?? Last year UK Basenji Rescue had its busiest year rehoming a number of basenjis from unsuitable situations and could not be returned to their breeders. Please think why you would ask a puppy to travel 0000's of KM's!!
Please do not purchase your puppy from some random person who happens to own both parents and has no connections to a bred club or showing community to help mentor them with the breed. they are greeders and do not have the breed welfare in mind.
BOBA and NBS breed clubs do hold list of proposed litters for this year and are well placed to assist you.
