Animal Talks Inc. How can I help you in your grief? Please let me know. There is no “Closure” in the case of the death of beloved animal companion, pet. Not the sadness or grief.

As an ordained Chaplain and Credentialed Grief Counselor, I offer compassionate help for those suffering the deep pain and sadness of any important loss-especially the death of a beloved pet. We don’t want to “Close” anything! There is a “Reconciliation,” a place where the memories of you and your animal stir smiles, love, laughter, and maybe some tears. But it’s the “good times” you more and mo

re remember. This is what we work toward and pray for. There is a saying that, time heals all wounds. No, it dulls the acute, unbearable pain. You heal your wounds. But in the case of bereavement, the feelings of loss must be processed or healing cannot take place. Resolution won’t happen. If feelings are glossed over they never release their hold. These powerful emotions of love and pain are imprisoned within us, and we can not live or get on with our lives. We are blocked.

To some it’s ‘just a pet’ but to others ‘it’s not just a pet’. After a report from the RSPCA found that fewer than one in 14 of us feel pet bereavement is taken seriously enough and over half of us admit to hiding our grief after losing a pet we’re joined by two bereaved pet parents. Joe Nutkins’ whose pet duck, Echo, is having a private cremation this week says, ‘the focus shouldn’t just be on cats and dogs’ and that we should have a better understanding of the bond people form with animals, joins us alongside Paula Stewart who still isn’t over the loss of her dog Mitzi who passed away in 2020.

" My aim is to ask Sakakeeny, a pet-loss counselor and the founder of Animal Talks, Inc., specifically about why he thinks pet grief just “hits different,” as the kids say. Why does it instantly bring on pain, tears, and shame in a way some other deaths and losses might not? And why does it hurt so bad, even years later?"

Loss hurts no matter what, but when we lose pets, it stings in a way that never really goes away. And we feel guilty about it. Why is that? Experts weigh in.

More than two-thirds of U.S. households include pets. Americans tend to treat them like family with birthday cakes, shared beds and names on holiday cards.

But when someone grieves them like family, the cultural script flips. Grief gets minimized. Support gets awkward. And when no one acknowledges your loss, it starts to feel like you weren’t even supposed to love them that much in the first place. Via Huron Daily Tribune

Grieving The Animals We Love, and How We Help

I’m Kaleel (Sometimes aka/Rev K), an ordained Animal Chaplain, Credentialed Pet Loss and Bereavement Counselor, and non-denominational Pastor.

Working through Pet Grief Help & Counseling, on Facebook, a branch of Animal Talks Inc (www.animaltalksinc.com) we commit to helping everyone who is in pain and suffering from the death of their animal companion. We love our pets deeply, and we suffer when we are separated from them by death. There isn’t a lot of help and understanding out there for this kind of loss. It’s a huge, huge pain, nearly impossible to bear, and shouldn’t be done alone. I promise I will be there to listen to you, and do what I can to help your hurt gradually heal. Perhaps we can travel the grief journey together, but you will lead and I will be with you as a companion in your grief. Please Contact me if you need help coping with the pain of having lost a beloved animal companion. whether the loss was recent or years ago, it still hurts.

We don’t charge for our services. We rely on donations to keep our help free. Animal Talks, our parent organization, is a tax-exempt 501 (3) (c) charity. Your generous donations to Animal Talks are tax deductible. We appreciate any donation you can comfortable make.

And, of course, this page and our lives are committed to Animal Rights, stopping animal abuse and neglect , calling it out wherever we see it. Please get active with the page, leaving as many comments as you wish. It’s how we get to know you. More at animaltalksinc.com aand our page .
