The story of Chopper.
He was this small little fluffy 10 week old puppy when I got him. I saw his face and did everything I had to get him to become part of our family. He was full of energy and a cuddlebug. At the age of 1 we found out he had hip dysplasia in both hips, and was told he would not make it past 8 or 9 years old. We didn't give up on him, just limited his exercise and kept an eye on his pain level. We were also told he may need wheels for his rear legs at some point. Well, true to the Pitt nature, Chop never really showed pain and if he was in pain, he pushed through it. Chop was a shepherd pitt mix. He played hard and had such confidence in himself. He was my boy, followed me everywhere. Loved car rides and was a true porch dog. He enjoyed sitting on the porch soaking in the sun. Every now and then he got a burst of energy in his old age and would chase the tennis ball.. one time. He lived to the age of 15. I had to make the very hard decision to let him go. Things had started to fail for him and he was in pain. Our trip to the very was the hardest day of my life. I held him the whole time, looking into his eyes. The connection he and I had was so strong. The meds were given and true to Chops stubborn nature, he took his time. I held him close looked him in his eyes and told him, it's ok bud you can go, I'll be with you always. And he slipped away. I felt his last heartbeat and breath. We brought him home and gave him a proper burial. He got a homemade headstone and all.
This was at least 5 months ago I lost my boy and till this day it still hurts. I'm tearing up writing this just thinking of him.
He was kinda the reason I got into pet sitting 15 years ago, so I couldn't think of a better way to keep him close by naming my business for him. He is the logo, the name and the true look of what pets are... family!
