Stop the Heartbreak: Please Vaccinate Against Parvo đ
We are utterly heartbroken and frustrated. Losing more innocent puppies to the preventable pain of parvovirus is devastating.
Every single day, we â along with animal control, pound keepers, and vet staff â are fighting a losing battle against this deadly virus.
Parvo is everywhere, and the sad truth is it can be prevented. A simple vaccine could save countless lives. Yet, every day, we see puppies suffering and dying needlessly because they werenât vaccinated.
These three beautiful babies were so close to a new start, with loving families waiting for them. But they came into care already carrying parvo.
Despite 10 days in isolation and all the right care, just as their quarantine period was nearly over, they started to show symptoms.
By the end of the day, there was nothing more that could be done.
The heartbreaking decision to let them go peacefully, ending their pain was made. đđ
Rest easy Houston, Dallas and wee Tyler đ
We cannot stress this enough: Vaccinate your puppies against parvo. If your puppy isnât vaccinated, donât take them off your property or let them interact with other dogs until it is safe.
Parvo doesnât wait!!
Safe ways to help them socialize is use an old pram.
Take them out in the car for new sights and sounds
Go to Bunnings and have them on a blanket in the trolly
Get a puppy sling to carry them in
Under tide lines at the beach
Don't take to parks, down the street, dog areas đ
To those who claim vaccines do more harm than good: please donât. Weâve seen the devastating reality of unvaccinated dogs.
To those who think they can save their pups at home with âjust TLCâ: consider yourselves lucky if youâve only dealt with a mild strain. Many pups donât survive, even with round-the-clock care and intensive veterinary intervention.
Weâve seen it all:
The mild cases that respond to subcutaneous fluids and antibiotics.
The moderate cases needing intensive hospital care, only to succumb to secondary infections or have a 50/50 chance to recover.
The deadly strain that takes puppies within 48 hours, no matter what anyone does.
Parvo is cruel, expensive to treat and only a 50 percent survival rate but itâs preventable.
Vaccinating your puppies can stop this heartbreaking cycle.
If youâre concerned about over-vaccinating adult dogs, titer testing is an option to check their immunity.
Please, donât let another innocent life be lost to parvo.
Take action. Vaccinate. Protect them.
