The Veterinary Wound Management Society is proud to support the Society of Veterinary Soft Tissue Surgery's annual meeting in New Orleans, June 16th-June 18th, 2022.
This year we will be sponsoring the keynote speakers, and we have 2 very exciting speakers. Our first speaker, Dr. Galina Hayes, BVSc, PhD, MRCVS, DACVS, DACVECC, is an Associate Professor in Small Animal Surgery at Cornell University, speaking about advanced wound management techniques, and Dr. Nicole Kopari, MD, FACS, a nationally recognized burn surgeon who serves as the Pediatric Burn Medical Director at Children’s Hospital New Orleans. She will be speaking about innovative techniques for the management of burn wounds in pediatrics.

Introducing board member-at-large Dr. Mandy Wallace!
Dr. Wallace is an Assistant Professor of Small Animal Surgery at the University of Georgia. She is a 2010 graduate of Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine and completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Colorado State University in 2011. She was the PennHIP research fellow at the University of Pennsylvania prior to completing a combined Master of Science degree program and Small Animal Surgery residency at the University of Florida in 2016. She became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2017. Dr. Wallace’s research interests are in hepatic vascular anomalies, septic peritonitis, novel wound treatments, and biomaterials for soft tissue surgery. In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband, RJ, and hanging out with their dog, Dani. Welcome Dr. Wallace!

Introducing our new secretary Dr. Ally Sterman!
Dr Sterman is originally from Ohio. She graduated from The Ohio State University with her DVM in 2015. She then spent the following 5 years completing her rotating internship, surgical internship and surgery residency at Texas A&M University. During which time, Basil (her adventure pup) came into her life! Her interest in wounds grew during this time. After her residency, Dr Sterman moved back up north and is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of small animal soft tissue surgery at Purdue University. When she isn’t at work,, she can be found cooking for friends or out exploring/hiking with Basil! Welcome Dr. Sterman!
