Today is National Dog Rescue Day! 🐾

My name is Heather, and this is my rescue dog, Stevie. ❤️

Stevie was rescued from a high-kill shelter after she and her litter of puppies were found abandoned on the side of the road. Her puppies were all adopted quickly, but sadly, Stevie kept getting overlooked.

When we connected with the rescue and went to meet her, something incredible happened: as soon as we pulled up, Stevie jumped right into our care and settled herself onto my daughter’s lap. In that moment, we knew she was already part of our family.

We may never know everything Stevie experienced before finding her way to us, but we believe life on the streets was not always kind to her. There were definitely bumps along the road as she learned how to trust, feel safe, and simply be a dog again. But with patience, love, consistency, and understanding, Stevie has become one of the most cherished members of our family.

Rescue dogs may come with a past, but they also come with incredible hearts, resilience, and so much love to give. Stevie was worth every challenge and every step of the journey. 🐶💕

Today, we celebrate rescue dogs everywhere and the people willing to give them the second chance they deserve.
