I once saw an exhibitor with a squeaky real fur mouse at a local dog show. My Butter adored it and played with it until we had to give it back, soggy and chewed, to its rightful owner. So I hunted high and low for this mouse. Nobody made or sold real fur mice anymore. So I began trying to find professionally tanned fur that was ethically sourced. I found a company in England that produced just tha

t! The English Rabbit Fur Company (also available on Etsy) are incredibly dedicated in their search for ethical fur that are a genuine by-product of the meat industry from top quality farms. Well I bought some furs, toyed with some designs, and made a mouse. Bragged about it to some friends on Facebook and before I knew it everybody else wanted one. Through my friends, different designs and noises and colours came about until we have what is available today. I'm always open to new or custom designs. To date I've made mice for an owl, gun dogs, a big snake shaped mouse, and many more. Myshka's Toy Box mice are meant for you and your pet to enjoy together. It is the responsibility of the pet owner to decide if the toy is appropriate for the pet. Always supervise your pet during play. Our mice are strong but not indestructible and are susceptible to chew damage. Please check regularly for wear and tear and discard or replace as necessary. Our mice may contain small parts that can be a choking hazard (i.e squeaks and rattles). Not suitable for children.

I will hopefully have plenty at City of Birmingham!
Due to their popularity, they are first come, first served, I will not be reserving any as last time I did they never got collected which meant someone who wanted one then and there missed out.

Well here’s a new one on me! I ordered fleece from the wholesaler last week, have to order by the bolt which they specify on their website is 12m. So 3 bolts 12m each ordered and paid for.

Three bolts get delivered yesterday, Tim takes them in as I think they’re past the weight of a kettle and I’m honestly trying to be a good post op patient. To me in their packaging they look like normal bolts 🤷‍♀️

Wholesaler has just invoiced me for an extra 5m plus vat because they sent me bolts of 13, 13, and 15m now it’s not a huge amount, but that’s really not the point?? I’ve used this wholesaler exclusively for the last ten years and you’re telling me they couldn’t either a) cut the extra yardage off or b) thrown me a 5m freebie just because they’ve wound a bolt in the wrong length.

Invoice says 30 days to pay and they thank me for my prompt payment. I’ll take it there in a wheelbarrow of pennies 🤬

Imagine if I packaged up toys extra and then billed the customer. Cheeky sods!!

Good luck to everyone at North East of England Toy Dog today, apologies I couldn’t be there. The Scottish cat show had already invited me and I knew I couldn’t do Mcr- Scotland- Mcr-Newcastle-Mcr in a weekend without killing myself 😆

However, if there were going to be another reason not to attend it would be because of this one exhibitor interaction I had at UK Toy this year.

Two women shopping with me, one buying a couple of my little £3 show squeaks. Second woman says “oh my dog just loves them” so her friend asks if she’s going to get one {they are £3 and have been that for ten years} “oh no. I’ll just win one again at North East Toy”

It’s July, that interaction, that level of entitlement and expectation, has stuck with me since March. Never mind those 300+ squeaks I donated were a one off gesture to make NEETD first champ status show special, just the attitude of she couldn’t possibly spend £3 with me to make her dog happy but would be guaranteed winning one at a dog show later in the year, left an extremely sour taste in my mouth. I am human, sometimes a quite sensitive one at that, and that interaction reminded me why sometimes schlepping out to shows just isn’t pleasant.

That being said, NEETD already secured inviting me next year after I said it’s a first come first served in my diary so I should be there next year 🤣
