Roy the Corgi & Mr. Griswold

We were looking through recent photos to make a post and came across this one with a present bundle. It made Mom pause. 😕

When Mom and Dad took us on our two-week RV trip over Christmas (to see how we’d do on a long trip… and yes, Mom forgot to post photos), our furiends The Frisky Corgis said they would hold our Christmas “prezzie box” until we got back.

Sure enough, it showed up in January. We took photos to send back and forth—us opening ours, them opening theirs—just like we’ve done for years. We’ve been exchanging presents for as long as we can remember.

It all started with the most beautiful handmade coats. Mom had ordered bandanas, and when the package arrived, those coats were tucked inside. At first, we thought it had to be a mistake—but it wasn’t. Their mom, Bea, had made them just for us.

That was Bea. Always doing something thoughtful and kind for her corgi furiends.

Even though we never met her in person, we felt like we knew her. She loved her corgis so much, and it showed in everything she did. When we learned she was gone, it was just so very sad.

We hope she knew how much we loved getting to know her—and her special corgis.

It feels different not seeing their posts or hearing from them. We will miss Bea. 🐾♥️

Some photos from this past month. One of the stores downtown had this nice giant Easter wreath. During the pollen rain, I spent a lot of time watching squirrels and cats from the front door. Mom put this hat on Griswold for fun, and he had it on for hours before it started falling sideways. 😝 There are some photos of Griswold on a solo walk with the spring trees. Lastly, Mom took some photos of the pretty azaleas downtown. 🌷🐾🩷🐰🐣

Our furiend The Adventures of Peanut the Corgi is a quarter-finalist in the America's Favorite Pet contest for 2026. He has to finish his group in 1st place in order to make it to the semi-final round, so PLEASE vote for him. If you can vote for him every day, I know he will appreciate it. 🐾💖

We hope everyone had a happy Valentine’s Day! 🐾🩷

Sorry we’ve been MIA recently. We took an RV trip over Christmas, and I got sick at the end. 😕 Mom thought I was better, but then I got sick again a few weeks later, so I went to the vet. Turns out I had pancreatitis. 😢 The vet thinks it was a combination of my birthday cake over the holidays (Mom cuts it up and freezes multiple containers for us to have later) and stress from being away from home for two weeks. Turns out that pancreatitis is cumulative, so it doesn’t matter that Mom cuts up tiny pieces and spaces them out over a couple of months. 😕

So, Mom has been analyzing all of my foods, treats, and supplements and making sure I’m back to normal. The vet said my birthday cake is normally very healthy, but apparently now that I’m 15, I have to lower my fat content. 🫤 Most of my diet was good, but we had to cut out some previously good for me things like occasional sardines and hard-boioed eggs, fish oil, and some of my supplements and treats so that I get less fat. Thankfully, blueberries and apples, two of my favorites, are fat free. 😝

Sorry for the long post, but we always figure that anything we learn possibly can help someone else avoid the same problem. ♥️ We older Corgis just can’t handle as much fat, even those good ones. Mom felt really bad, but the vet told her that she couldn’t possibly have known.

Oh…and we are wearing our birthday hats because they didn’t show up in time for our birthdays. 😝😂

Yesterday was Mr. Griswold’s 12th Barkday. Mom says that no matter what age he is, he will always be a little boy who needs hugs and support to navigate the big world out there. 🩷🧁

Yesterday was my 15th birthday. 🩵 Mom says she still can’t believe I’m 15. She says it’s bittersweet, but she’s focusing on sweet. Me, I’m just happy that there is cake. I love cake. 🧁 Since our barkdays are two days apart, Mom decided to do both cakes yesterday (we have a lot of extra cake in the freezer today) and presents tomorrow. We will have more photos and some videos later.

As promised, here are some more Halloween costume photos. Griswold stole the show everywhere we went with his pants for his farmer costume. My scarecrow costume was a little snug (clearly made for a shorter length doggie), so I had to not use the leg holes when out walking. For our mountain trip, Mom let me wear one of our football jerseys instead. I think maybe it’s cuter on me. Mom says I can’t pull off overalls…that’s all Griswold. 😝 It’s probably best because I wasn’t nearly as excited about them when mom got a pair for us to try. I have to admit, he does look pretty cute in his pants. 🎃👻🧡
