Coop had left for a trial adoption, but after a few days, the family realized that they just weren't ready for a new pup after their last one passed away.

Many people don't know until they at least start meeting new dogs. They think they're ready but their heart just won't let them move forward.

Coop is a sweet, 2 yr old JRT mix. He can be shy at first meeting new people but warms up to be an absolute sweetheart. He has done well with the other dogs in rescue. He loves to play with them and enjoys playing fetch. He will also gladly watch TV while cuddling in your lap.

He has a previous leg injury that did not heal properly. At the advice of our vet, we decided not to amputate and just leave it be. He walks with a limp but it doesn't hold him back one bit.

Still available: Brownie 😬

In a time when healthy, friendly, young dogs are being euthanized for space, how does a dog like Brownie stand a chance at finding a home 😢

It's been almost a year since Brownie joined us at Humphrey House. He had been adopted from Barcs shelter but after just a few weeks, his adopter wanted to surrender him.

Their reason? He pees on everything 💦🥴
With several Chihuahuas myself, I get it. I use potty pads or belly bands. I thought it might be an easy fix and that a 9 lb chi couldn't be that hard to find a home for.

Boy, was I wrong 😭

What I didn't know until I went over his paperwork is that he has a grade 5/6 heart murmur 💔 The shelter did not neuter him because it was to risky.

AND, he has quite the Napoleon complex 😂 His bark can make Michael Myers turn around & run for his life 🤷

Due to his testosterone driven temperament, we took a chance & had him neutered, hoping it would calm him down. Several months later, we are still holding our breath, waiting for a calmer Brownie 😮‍💨

Over time, he has learned to tolerate the other small dogs in his foster home... But it was hard. Even Peanut, whom the other dogs know to stay away from, is scared of Brownie 😟 He is quite intimidating.

After everything we have gone through, I am still holding out hope that there might just be a chance, a very small chance, but a chance nonetheless, that there's an appropriate home somewhere out there for Brownie 🤞

Hi! My name is Snow, and I'm a sweet senior JRT mix looking for my forever home. I'm about 24 pounds of pure love and sass, and I'm ready to find my forever person!

I know I'm a senior, but I've still got plenty of get-up-and-go. In fact, I've mastered the art of playing fetch! As you can see in the video, I'll happily bring the toy back to you over and over again—all I ask for is a good ear scratch or belly rub in return.

I'm a total love bug who adores attention.
I've had a tough start in life and was saved from a difficult situation, so I can be a little shy at first. But once I feel safe and trust you, my true personality shines through. I'll become your loyal, loving, and even protective companion. Welcome BoBo to Humphrey House.

BoBo is a 7 month old chi that currently weighs 4 lbs. His adult weight will be closer to 6 lbs.

BoBo was surrendered due to his owners health declining.

BoBo will be available in the next few weeks after being neutered & getting more vaccines. As of now, he has received his rabies vaccine, microchip & heartworm test, which was negative.

BoBo is being fostered in Harford County Maryland. He is a very small, fragile boy. Therefore I will be very specific with his new home. No small children or large animals that may accidentally step on him. He will need to be watched very carefully outdoors for predators such as hawks, coyotes, etc. He will require a safe & secure household. Thank you for understanding.

Coop & Pixie... Still available for adoption 💗

I never thought it would be so hard to find a home for a healthy, young puppy. But here we are, months later & Pixie is still waiting for a loving home ☹️

Coop & Pixie are our youngest fosters. They arrived together about 2 months ago & really enjoy their playtime together. Both would benefit from having another dog in their home to play with. Of course, you could always just adopt them both 😂🙏

Pixie is a sweet 4 month old Pittie/Australian Cattle dog mix. She currently weighs 20 lbs but is expected to be closer to 50 lbs once fully grown. This is an important time in her life to receive puppy training & to bond with her new family. Pixie is spayed, microchipped & current on vaccines.

Coop is a 2 yr old JRT mix that weighs 18 lbs. His leg was previously shattered and is beyond repair. He walks with a limp but gets around just fine. He can be nervous meeting new people but warms up to be a loving companion. Coop is neutered, microchipped & current on vaccines.

🐾 Welcome Toby to Humphrey House 🐾

Meet Toby, a super sweet Cairn Terrier, who's just as charming as Toto from the Land of Oz! At 16 years young and 10 pounds, this little guy is proof that great things come in small, furry packages.

Toby was found as a stray, but his journey is taking a turn for the best. While the shelter was able to find his previous owner, they made the tough decision that they couldn't provide the care he needs, both physically and financially. Now, Toby is looking for a comfy couch and a loving lap to call his very own.

He's currently with us at Humphrey House Rescue in Abingdon, Maryland, and is getting ready for a fresh start. We have scheduled a dental appointment for September 24th to make sure his smile is as bright as his personality! Once he's all cleared, he'll be ready to meet his new family.

Coop, a little dog with a big heart who's looking for a second chance at a forever home.

Meet Coop, a sweet and resilient 2-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix who's ready to fill your life with love and laughter. Coop's journey hasn't been easy—he came to us with a shattered leg and a dislocated elbow. Unfortunately his leg is beyond repair & he's left with a permanent limp. Because of this, many people have overlooked this sweet boy, and we can't let that continue.

Coop's spirit is anything but broken. He doesn't let his disability slow him down, and he loves to play, cuddle, and explore. He gets along great with other dogs, and his favorite thing in the world is a good belly rub. He may not be able to go on long hikes, but he'll make the perfect companion for neighborhood strolls, cozy movie nights, and all the love you can give.

All Coop wants is a warm bed and a family to call his own. He deserves to know what it feels like to be truly wanted, not for what he can do, but for who he is—a brave, loving, and incredibly deserving dog.

Our puppy Pixie is growing up right before our eyes.

She was only 7 weeks old when she came to us & is now a 14 week old teenager.

The plan was to adopt her out with a contract to be spayed in a few months, but with no adoption interest, we went ahead & had her spayed yesterday. She also received her big-girl rabies vaccine 🎉

Pixie currently weighs 18 lbs & is expected to be around 40-50 lbs once fully grown. Her main breeds include Pittie & Australian Cattle dog. She will require training, as any puppy should. She would love another dog in the home to help her learn.

Brownie is 9 lbs of judgement & pure stubbornness.

He thinks he's a Rottweiler and doesn't realize he is stuck in a Chihuahua sized body.

He will take on a grizzly bear & expect the bear to curl up in a fetal position in fear. He can make a mountain lion run for their life. He can put out a fire just by lifting his leg 🔥🤣

He's not deaf, but he will ignore you as if he is 🤷

He's not looking for love... He's looking for a position as your bodyguard. He will happily protect you from annoying telemarketers ringing your doorbell or from the in-laws that randomly show up without warning. He will gladly accept payment in the form of treats & string cheese.

This 6 year old fearless warrior will be spouting out curse words throughout his day, so it's best he doesn't live with small impressionable children.

After 2 months in a home, Snow is back at Humphrey House ☹️

Snow originally came to us from a neglectful hoarding situation. She was understandably nervous. She had a large tumor on her face that was successfully removed by our amazing vet. Luckily it was non-cancerous & she healed quickly.

It took several months for Snow to finally be adopted. She was scared at a new beginning, but was so happy to find a home of her own. It seemed perfect. A nice quiet home on the water with an older couple. Everything was going great, until the couples adult daughter moved back home 😔

Apparently this adult made a bad impression on Snow. She was loud & liked to yell for her parents through the door instead of opening it & speaking in a normal manner. The yelling caused Snow to react defensively, so she was returned.

Snow is a sweet senior girl that has been let down by humans. More than once. She is seeking a quiet FOREVER home to live out her golden years.

Snow is nervous at first but warms up to be a Velcro dog that looks to her human for guidance. Once attached, she does become protective of her humans. I don't blame her. She doesn't want to lose another family.

Snow is estimated to be 10 years old and weighs just over 20 lbs. She is quite energetic for her age. She loves to run & play but also enjoys a good nap.
