Dear PrezPets followers, friends and family,

I’d like to let you know that I have made the difficult choice to close Presidential Pet Care, and as of January 1, 2021 will no longer be providing pet care services.

This was a bittersweet decision that I’ve wrestled with for quite some time. I’ve spent more than 7 years building the company and our exceptional team of Caregivers. Regrettably, the ongoing pandemic has negatively impacted the pet care industry and the ability to sustain myself and my team.

Active clients have already been emailed a logistics and transition plan for you and your pets, including a company to which I am referring you. If you haven't used us in a while, did not receive an email and would like a referral or information about getting your keys returned, please email [email protected] by December 20, 2020. All unclaimed keys will be disposed of on January 1, 2021.

The silver lining in this challenging time is that I’ve had the opportunity to explore another passion of mine. I’ve started a new venture working online with small business owners. I hope we can stay in touch as my entrepreneurial journey continues, and in case I can be of any service to you (or someone you may know with a small business!). SooOoooo about a year ago Bambi REALLY freaked me out... when I came home, I couldn't find him, which is extremely unusual because he always greets me at the door (or is napping somewhere close by).

I looked all over my 1000 sq ft condo for him and couldn't find him... I started flipping out, to say the least. Then all of a sudden I heard something wiggling from the bathroom...

Yep, he was chillin' (quite literally) in the bathtub. He really liked the feeling of the cold ceramic on his tummy so that was his go to spot for a few weeks.

My bestie finally suggested I buy a cooling mat, and it's safe to say it was a big hit! He LOVES his mat, and a year later he still uses it daily! Shia also appreciates it as well 😜

At the beginning of quarantine you were all about walking your dog regularly, getting out into the fresh air and taking long, leisurely walks. Now that school is back in session and some workplaces are opening back up, your time may be more limited. We're happy to scratch "Walk the dog" off your to do list for the day so you can focus on all of the other things you have going on in your busy life!

𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐨𝐠 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞! Working on obedience skills can be easier when you’re at home, in a familiar location. But, when you take that training on a walk, it can provide mental stimulation, as your dog focuses to avoid distraction while they listen to you and pay attention to new training cues. Teaching your dog to sit as people come toward them, or to sit and wait at a crosswalk keeps them safe and it keeps the people around you safe too.

If we've learned anything from quarantine and social distancing, it's that we are social creatures and need socialization (yes, even you - fellow introvert!) Your dog isn't much different! 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐟𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐨𝐠𝐬 – 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐝𝐨𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞! Socialization offers more of that mental stimulation because dogs have to think and follow your training cues as you walk together.

Spending hours and hours inside isn’t the best use of a dog’s energy – particularly if you know you have a breed that requires lots of play and stimulation. 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆. It helps to keep them slim and trim, and also helps deter destructive behaviors. Sometimes the dog with the best behavior can develop destructive habits – especially if you’re not paying a lot of attention and haven’t had a chance to play enough.

When you take your dog out, one of the first things they do is put their noses to the ground – the sniffing is one way they find stimulation (both mental and physical). 𝘚𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘯𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘩𝘺𝘥𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘢 𝘥𝘰𝘨’𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘍𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬. It tells them much about the world – and enhances what they see in their world. The mental stimulation is good for your pup’s brain – and it helps to improve their energy levels, powering the physical activity too.
