Big news – they did it! Today all of our incredible dogs officially passed their certifications and are ready to serve alongside their new departments. We couldn’t be more proud of how far they’ve come – from shelter to shield!

We’d love for you to join us and celebrate these dogs’ journey at their graduation ceremony tomorrow! Be at the Plainfield Police Department – 1075 W Main St, Plainfield, IN tomorrow at 6:30 PM! Come see their transformation firsthand and help us send them off to their new lives of service! Great job pups, we couldn’t be more proud of you!

Today was another incredible day of training at our current academy as our students sharpen their skills and focus as they prepare to certify tomorrow. Today’s focus was on tracking and our pups understood the assignment

Every dog here isn’t just learning to detect narcotics or locate evidence — they’re preparing for the real world. That means realistic training, from noisy streets to open fields, from quiet neighborhoods to deep woods. Why? Because many of the departments we serve are in rural communities, and these dogs will often be the very first line of help when a child goes missing, when every second counts.

Seeing these incredible canines transform from shelter rescues into highly skilled police partners is nothing short of amazing. They’ll go on to protect families, find the lost, and make a difference in ways most people will neverfully understand. All of them somehow knew this was their shot at the big leagues- and all of them are knocking it out of the park!

Our current students are absolutely crushing their police training! Our students, human and doggo, train 7 days a week during our course to be better served to protect their communities! We work in real world locations training day and night so when our students walk across that graduation stage- very soon too- they can walk right out onto patrol and handle anything the streets throw at them! Here are some photos from some scent discrimination training today!

As our current Academy class continues, some old faces stop by to get in some reps and encourage the new handlers and new dogs as they continue to grow. This class is firing on all cylinders and we love the progress our new pups have made, but it’s always good to see an old friend. Thanks for stopping in K9 Casper!

And introducing our last student - Jack, from out of the shadows to into the fight! Jack is a 5 year old Belgian Malinois who was in active service before starting his next chapter with us. Focused, powerful, and built to serve — he’s the kind of K9 every agency hopes to have on their team. When Jack came to us he was facing a tough road — out of the field, dealing with serious health challenges, and waiting for someone to believe in him again.

But even the strongest among us need help sometimes. When asked if Jack and his new handler could attend our detection course, we were honored to have them attend. What he needed was support — and he got it from all sides.

Thanks to the incredible care of the amazing Dr. Jackie Busch and the team at Healthy Paws Animal Hospital, Jack’s health was restored and his fire reignited. And thanks to a dedicated new handler — Jack was given a new start, a new partner, and a new mission.

Now, they’re pushing through our detection course side by side, and we couldn’t be more proud of them both. Jack’s intensity, his loyalty, and his passion for the job haven’t faded one bit — if anything, they’ve grown stronger.

At Redemption Ranch, our mission is to make sure no working dog is left behind. To give them not just a second chance, but the right chance. Jack is proving, every single day, why that matters.

We’re honored to play a small part in this next chapter — and proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with our neighbors in getting Jack back where he belongs. Good boy Jack, we’re very proud of you

Next up for our current students- from unseen to unshakeable- meet R***r. He’s a one-ish year old German Shepherd. When we first learned about him, he was known as Apollo, a long-term resident at the Putnam County Animal Shelter. R***r had spent nearly his entire life in their care. Day in, day out, he waited. Waited for purpose. Waited for someone to believe in him. Waited for a chance to be more than just a kennel number.

That chance came because his shelter family refused to give up on him. Putnam County Animal Care, this post is for you. You knew he was special. You knew this dog needed a job, not a cage. And because of your persistence, your belief in him never wavering, R***r is now a working dog with a furever family, a home and a purpose doing what he was born to do. Thank you for reaching out and your persistence.

But the road from shelter to service wasn’t one he walked alone. R***r was taken in by an incredible foster family — who also serve in law enforcement. They gave him the structure, the care, and the love he needed to make the leap from “shelter dog” to “protector in training.” Their dedication gave him the head start every working dog deserves.

Today, R***r trains with focus, heart, a contagious fun loving personality and a tail wag that could knock over a linebacker. His potential is sky-high — and he’s not just proving the doubters wrong, he’s proving the believers right.

From caged to called- this is why we do what we do

With a new class underway we will introduce the rest of our dogs soon, but we wanted to give a shout out to our number one fan who came to cheer on the pups and always is the first to help volunteer his time and services- meet Evan.

Evan is always at our trainings. Always smiling. Always asking to meet the dogs. And somehow… he already knows all their names, their specialties, and what makes each one unique. Whichever dog comes in, Evan knows their story — and more importantly, he cares.

What makes Evan truly special is how deeply he relates to our K9s. So many of our dogs come from difficult beginnings — abandoned, overlooked, underestimated. But they’re given a second chance, trained with purpose, and become heroes. Evan understands that journey better than most.

Evan lives with Prader-Willi Syndrome — a rare genetic condition that brings daily challenges most of us could never imagine. But he meets every one of those challenges with the same bravery and resilience we see in our strongest working dogs. When our dogs work through frustration, distraction, or a tough learning curve, Evan gets it. He roots for them because he knows what it means to fight for progress—inch by inch, rep by rep. etc

Evan is a huge part of our program and all our students brought swag from their respective agencies to hand out - which Evan LOVES to collect. If you’d like to support Evan and help fund research into Prader-Willi Syndrome, please visit teamevan.org. Evan thank you for being part of our pack!

Some people talk about making a difference, others just quietly roll up their sleeves and do it. Before Redemption Ranch was real—before the dogs, the gear, the training, the hope—there was just a mission in our hearts and a thousand questions in our heads. How do we start a nonprofit? What’s the first step? Who’s going to help us? Then came Matt Boulton. Matt didn’t wait to be asked. He didn’t quote us a fee.
He didn’t care about titles, recognition, or applause. Over lunch at Sal’s in Mooresville with Steve Marusich he just said, “I believe in what you’re doing. Let me help.”

Matt—founder of the Boulton Law Group, LLC- volunteered his time, expertise, and energy to walk us through every form, every filing, every step of the process to become a 501(c)(3). No shortcuts. No hesitation. Just heart. What he gave us wasn’t just legal support—it was the foundation to save lives. To rescue discarded dogs and train them into something extraordinary. To serve police departments. To serve communities. To give hope where there was none.

Matt is now a proud member of our board of directors—but he was a part of this mission long before there was a title to give him.

Recently, his law firm produced a video. It was supposed to tell his story. But instead, it told ours. Because that’s the kind of man Matt is. He never puts himself in the spotlight—so we’re putting him there now.

Matt, thank you. You changed the course of this mission. Not with flash. Not with fanfare.
But with quiet, steady, selfless commitment.

Next up, meet Knox! From lost cause to law dog! Knox came to us from the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter after their staff reached out knowing the full tilt dog would be returned to them if adopted by a regular family. Knox’s smile though hides the saddest of back stories. Knox was running loose in the winter near the casino in Shelbyville living in a field next to a truck stop. Local truckers called in the dog running loose who was sustaining himself by eatingchicken nuggets that were thrown at this scared boy by good samaritans trying to get him to safety. He eventually had to be coaxed into a humane trap with hamburgers, where he was then brought to the safety of the shelter. Knox has shown himself to be a devoted partner and new best friend to the whole family. To say this dog was born to work is an understatement- every day he shows a fire to train that can’t be taught. Every day he gets a little braver, a little stronger and a little more confident. Cast aside like a piece of trash, we recognized him for the treasure he is. Every rep, every search, every challenge — he gives it everything. Welcome to the blue line Knox, you are greatness bound!

Introducing our new students! First up- from unwanted to unshakable, meet Dingo. He’s an approximately one year old Carolina Dog (also called a ‘Dixie Dingo’) that came to our attention thanks to some very, very devoted folks at Indianapolis Animal Care Services who saved his life by bringing him to our attention. He was returned not once- but twice- to a very high kill shelter for “being too much”. Confused, scared, and almost a statistic Dingo was on the edge of being out of hope. But not anymore. Where the world saw a problem, we saw a partner. Dingo is thriving in his new life- smart, focused and always ready to work. Dingo- you were never too much, you just needed someone to believe in you. And now you’ve found that and a family to boot. Welcome home good boy, we hope you love every minute of your new life.

And we’re off! A new class on deck, more dogs lives changed forever and communities about to be safer! We would like to thank Plainfield Police Department Chief Prewitt for being our opening speaker to encourage our new teams as they begin an incredibly physically and mentally demanding course. Stay tuned for updates as we introduce our Redemption dogs and their stories!
