Attended our first NCCAA National Indoor meet Fri and Sat. This meet hosted 19 schools ranging from NCAA DII, NAIA and NCAA DIII. NCAA DII and NAIA athletes are on athletic scholarship, NCAA DIII are academic scholarship only. 5 of the 19 schools were NCAA DIII including the Asbury Eagles. Asbury men finished 9th out of 19 teams and the women finished 10th out of 19. Among DIII schools Asbury men and women finished 2nd behind Greenville University (ILL).
Austin set a PR in the 60mH ( new school record) then he came out of the blocks in the 4x200 and 4x400 relays where both teams set new school records. the 4x400 finished 5th just two spots out of a medal. Just like always we were there for the very first event on Friday (hurdles) and helped clean up after the 4x400 completed late Saturday afternoon. Indoor season is about to wrap up with one more meet then its on to the outdoor season where the first meet will b in Statesboro,GA late March.
This is only Asbury's second season of track and their first year of being eligible for a conference meet and eligible for NCAA DIII Nationals
So cool to see Austin establishing standards in these events. This indoor season he has either set an individual record or has been part of setting a new school record in the 60mH, 200m dash, 300m dash, 4x200 relay and 4x400 relay we know one day these will probably be broken but he will leavem something to remember
record setting 4x400 below.
