It’s beer time!! Several long weeks of Sharon and my unwavering dedication to my dad's needs have finally been met. We may have some relief soon. Ever since I returned from UPDIF, it has been a roller coaster that didn’t seem it would ever end, but we persevered.

A long time ago, I told my dad to tell me when he needed help, and he finally gave in, calling me with tears in his voice, saying, “I need help”! Sharon took all of the work at this time while I looked for help to come in and assist. I decided we would have visiting Angles come in for 4 six hour days, and Sharon would cover the other three, and I would cover the mornings. Everything was set; there were 2 different people coming to handle this, so Sharon and I stayed with both of them the entire first nights to show them what we needed to be done. Well……. 1/2 way into the first day for the second person, Sharon and my sister told me what my dad had said to them, that he didn’t want strangers in his house. So I asked dad if he doesn’t want people coming into his house, and he said yes, I want to go to assisted living, I want you to find me a place I can go to now.
Being at home was becoming increasingly difficult for all of us. So this week, I have been spending hours researching and visiting places for him with the help of an excellent advisor K.C Ryerson.
The first place I walked into……. I got so excited about everything this place had to offer; tears came to my eyes. I had five more places to look at. I needed to go and see different styles, etc.
First stop today…….. My jaw dropped as I walked through the doors; I was blown away again by what I was seeing! I had NO idea what I was expecting, but WOW, just wow. Loved this place just like the first place.
I knew I was going to make my decision TODAY because my dad said he wanted to go ASAP. I promised him before, whatever he wanted or needed….. I would do everything in my power to make it happen.
Well…….. he now has his own apartment at Spring Arbor of Frederick and will be moving in after I jump through some more hoops, getting all the paperwork needed. I chose this place not only because of its beauty, cleanliness, care, interaction, and great food but because of their unbelievable recognition of military. I knew right then, this is the place for him!!! I hope I’m right!!! I will be up there all the time…. I think I want to move in 😂. I wish my dad many more years and an excellent quality of life for the time forward.
