Helping Animals In Need This page is devoted to helping animals in need of medical care or adoption.

We don't provide financial help directly but a means to network and reach out to others. I created this community in memory of my beloved cat Charlie, who passed away on Oct. 18th, 2012. Many people donated towards his expensive vet costs, not to mention providing me with enormous emotional support during that time. This page is my way of keeping his memory alive, while also 'paying it forward' and doing something positive for all the other animals in need.

Just months into his well-earned retirement, Jack faced a life-threatening crisis. He developed a bowel obstruction, but in circumstances befitting one of the Bard’s tragedies, all the local veterinary hospitals were at capacity and couldn’t help. Dehydrated and showing signs of sepsis, Jack was...

The DEADLY CORN COB!!
Although you might think this is a delicious treat for your four legged buddy, corn cobs could be the cause of you losing your best friend.
Corn cobs are one of the most common yet dangerous foods you can give your pet.
The corn cob does not break down in the acid of your dogs gastrointestinal tract, instead they swell up and block the entire path, resulting in complete mayhem within your dog's intestinal system.
Once in and blocked up there is only one way out, an emergency exploratory laparotomy done by your veterinarian. This Is a high risk procedure as the corn cob can cause severe internal damage.

You might think to yourself "its fine, i'll just cut it up into smaller pieces" NO!!!!!!!!!!. Regardless if the corn is large or small, it will still swell internally and still block your pets intestinal system. So let's protect our loved ones and put that corn cob in the bin, make sure during your festive braai none of your friends or family sneak a corn cob treat to your pet, it could mean
life or death to your beloved buddy.

Many orphans can be left a few hours to see if mom comes back...NOT OPOSSUMS! If you see a baby like this one in a yard or anywhere, get it quickly in a little box or pet carrier with a blanket and keep warm and call a wild life rescue. Momma opossum can have up to 13 babies. As they grow, they don't all fit in the pouch so they ride on her back. If something startles her and she runs, one can fall off. Momma doesn't know she lost one so please never ever leave one thinking mom will come back...
