🚨 April is almost full 🚨

We officially have just ONE training spot left for April—and this is exactly how fast things are moving now that we’ve capped training at only 2 dogs per month.

This smaller, more focused approach means every dog gets a higher level of attention, structure, and results—but it also means spots go very quickly.

If you’ve been thinking about training or know you’ll need it in the coming months, I highly recommend getting on the books sooner rather than later. Waiting usually means missing out.

🚨BIG UPDATE🚨

We’re excited to introduce our NEW Board & Train format — designed with you and your dog in mind! 🐾

One of the biggest concerns we hear from owners is not wanting to be away from their dog for 4–6 weeks… and we get it. That’s why we’ve created a program that keeps you involved every step of the way.

✨ New Format:
📅 Monday–Friday: Your dog trains with us
🏡 Weekends: Your dog comes home to YOU for hands-on practice and plenty of love

This allows you to build real-world skills alongside your dog while still getting the structure and professional training they need.

💡 Prefer a traditional program?
We’ve got you covered! Our full board & train option is still available for those who aren’t able to do weekend visits.

⚠️ Important Update: ‼️‼️
Starting in April, we will be limiting the number of training dogs we accept each month to two. This will ensure the highest quality results for every client, allow us to continue to foster animals from local shelters to increase their odds of adoption, and accept emergenct cases.

➡️ Boarding services will remain unchanged.

Winston has officially wrapped up his off-leash obedience program 🎉

When he first arrived, he had a rough transition to kennel life, noted by some anxious paw licking. But with time, patience, and consistency, he began to settle in and find his rhythm. Everything changed when his buddy Sylvie joined him—having a familiar friend by his side helped him come out of his shell, and from there, he really started to thrive.

Now, Winston is confidently showing off all his hard work—place, sit, down, stay, and leave it like a pro 👏

He’s also been putting those skills to the test in real-world environments, staying focused and responsive at our shop on busy Harrison Avenue, at the park, and even during outings to Tractor Supply.

We’re so proud of how far he’s come—this happy, confident pup is proof that patience and the right support make all the difference 💙

Sylvie came to us for a one-week boarding stay, but after talking with her owner, we decided to turn it into a Board & Train to help rebuild some skills she had lost since attending our group obedience class last year.

At Kerens K9, we don’t believe in cookie-cutter training programs. Every dog is different—each with their own personality, past experiences, motivations, and challenges. What takes one dog a full week to understand might click for another in just a single day.

Sylvie is a sweet but skittish girl with some past trauma, so the first few days were all about building trust—getting her comfortable in the kennel environment and gently reintroducing her commands. When she arrived, “sit” was the only command she could reliably perform, and she really struggled with “place,” wanting nothing to do with the bed.

With patience, consistency, and the right amount of guidance, she began to understand. What started with leash pressure and luring slowly turned into confident, independent choices.

This video is a clip from her final session before going home—showing off sit, down, place, and short-duration stays. The difference from day 1 to day 7 is truly night and day.

Gus just graduated his full obedience program! 🎓🐾

This sweet, loving boy just needed a little help learning how to channel his puppy energy—and after 5 weeks, he’s done that and so much more.

We couldn’t be prouder of his progress!

Huge shoutout to our apprentice for bringing home the State Champion title in wrestling! 🏆

This girl somehow manages school, wrestling, working here at Kerens K9, and working at Good News Cafe… and she makes it look effortless. The kind of discipline, grit, and work ethic that takes is rare. She might be here to learn from us, but the truth is we’ve learned just as much from her. Watching someone so young chase excellence in every part of their life is pretty incredible.

If you see her around, make sure you congratulate our State Champ. She’s earned every bit of it. 🐾💪

Murphy wrapped up his off-leash obedience and is officially heading home to his family 🖤
Truly the definition of a gentle giant— it’s hard to believe he TRIPLED in size during his time with us.

During his stay we focused on:
• Loose leash walking
• Rock-solid basic commands
• Real-world manners + impulse control
• And, of course, mastering how to be the very best boy

We’re so proud of the progress this big guy made and can’t wait to see him thrive back at home. It’s always bittersweet sending them home—but this is the best part of what we do 🐾

Nibbles is fine-tuning his skills during his final week with us, and we are loving putting that laser focus to the test 👀🐾

At Kerens K9, we don’t just train the skill — we proof it. That means working through real-life distractions, not perfect, quiet scenarios.

Since Nibbles comes from a home full of kids, we brought in our own wild crew to help test his ability to listen and stay engaged with his handler, even when chaos is happening around him.
