A Purrfect place for Stoke Newington Cats and Dogs. We are a small animal charity with a strictly no-kill policy. We take into our care cats that are injured, old, ill, or disabled as well as pregnant mums and abandoned kittens. Our goal is to rehome all cats in our care but cats that are too ill to be rehomed stay with us in long-t

erm foster care (end of life) and we do all we can to give them love, care, and dignity to the very last breath they take. We also help to rehome cats due to their owner’s change of circumstances or whose owners sadly passed away as well as unwanted dogs, birds and rabbits although their number is less than the number of rehomed cats. All cats in our care are neutered, chipped, treated for fleas and worms, and vaccinated. Although we are a registered charity, we don’t get any funds or support from government organizations so it is very important for us to self-fund ourselves when it comes to the vet bills such as dental, injured pelvis, x-rays, heart ultrasounds, or other life-saving surgeries. Our operation relies heavily on the donations of kind people like yourself. We are also on Twitter

URGENT FUNDRAISING

The recent two heatwaves have been catastrophic for the cats in our care, particularly for the older ones. While fans and air coolers provide some relief, it's not enough...

Sadly, just last week, we had to rush our beloved Blackie to the emergency vet after she began breathing heavily and limping on her hind legs.

At 15 years old, she is quite an elderly cat.

The vet quickly informed us that she has a minor heart murmur and heart arrhythmia. It’s likely that the heat exacerbated these symptoms. She received an injection of furosemide and was prescribed tablets to take home. They examined her chest for any fluid buildup, and fortunately, it was clear, but the vet wants to conduct further tests, including a heart scan on Wednesday.

Although her breathing has improved, likely due to the medication, her back legs remain weak, and she is not acting like her usual self. We are following the vet's advice to keep her cool and calm, ensuring everything is at the same level to minimize her need to walk.

While we have managed to cover a significant portion of the outstanding vet bills, the current treatments and needs are beyond our means, so we are urgently seeking help to cover Blackie's check-ups and treatment. We never abandon a cat, and we didn’t turn our backs on Blackie when she had nowhere to go and was facing euthanasia due to a lack of space. Please help us support this sweet, lovely cat.

PLEASE HELP US TO HELP CATS IN OUR CARE

Stokey Cats is a small charity dedicated to helping cats in need.

Unfortunately, we are facing a significant challenge with vet bills soaring to nearly £2000 due to numerous vet visits and the influx of stray or injured cats.

With no available homes (no adoptions) and foster placements being scarce (basically non-existent), our only option is to neuter the cats and return them to the care of regular feeders, hoping that the cats won't get run over in the meantime.

The cheapest neutering prices for neutering alone are £60 for males and £90 for females. These are just the basic costs not including additional expenses for flea and worm treatments, antibiotics, or other necessary procedures like dental care and blood/urine tests.

Many of the cats we care for arrive with pre-existing health conditions that require ongoing veterinary attention such as regular heart scans, heart medication, blood pressure monitoring, end-of-life care, kidney support, and gastrointestinal treatment/support, just to mention a few.

They also need cat litter and numerous puppy pads - all of which contribute to our mounting costs.

We urgently need your support to help cover these costs so we can continue helping cats that have no one else to care for them. Please consider donating, sharing our fundraising post, or inviting friends to join our cause. We also welcome any creative fundraising ideas you may have to help us in this effort!

Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a significant difference for the cats in our care and is very much appreciated.

UPDATE: SAFELY BACK HOME

*******MISSING CAT*******

HAVE YOU SEEN ASTRID?

ASTRID is an Abyssinian. Brown with white under her nose and mouth.

She lives on Barbauld Rd. Last seen around 3pm 4th June. VERY unusual. So we are very worried something has happened now.

She is very friendly and is popular in the area as she gets a lot of attention and loves it.

Please check your gardens and sheds, garages, outdoor storage spaces, basements etc in case she got locked by accident.

LENA has been missing since the 6th of May. She’s a black short-haired female, 5 years old, quite small. She wears an ID tag collar with her name on it and is microchipped.

She’s new to London — we recently moved from Canada. She’s used to being outside and always comes back quickly. She had been going out for about a week without any issues, until now. :(

Last seen on May 6th around 184 Brooke Road, E5 8AP (Clapton).

Please please check your sheds if you live in this area.

It's the time of the year when kittens, pregnant cats, newborns, and tom cats are everywhere and need HELP

We are desperate for long-term foster carers and adopters.
The situation is out of control and I am seeing cats / kittens run over because there is no space for them.

We are waiting for adopters to come forward so we can rehome our cats and take new strays in their place but the situation has not changed for the past 2 years...

FOSTER CARERS AND ADOPTERS PLEASE GET IN TOUCH
